Biography

Breath of the Wild

The Mother Goddess Statue is the largest and oldest Goddess Statue in Hyrule, and she can be found at the rear of the Forgotten Temple.[4] By speaking to her, Link is able to exchange groups of four Spirit Orbs for either a Heart Container or a Stamina Vessel.[5]

After Link completes all 120 Ancient Shrines in Breath of the Wild, the voice of a Monk will speak to him and offer him a reward at the Forgotten Temple.[6] This starts the Side Quest "A Gift from the Monks". At the foot of the Mother Goddess Statue, Link will find three Stone Chests that contain the Cap of the Wild, the Tunic of the Wild, and the Trousers of the Wild.[7]

Tears of the Kingdom

The Mother Goddess Statue returns in Tears of the Kingdom, being one of six Great Goddess Statues. She has since been toppled over, though the entrance to a new room in the Forgotten Temple has appeared behind her.[8] Her counterpart, the Cliff Bargainer Statue, can be found in the Depths below her position.

At the beginnings of the Side Quests "Goddess Statue of Courage", "Goddess Statue of Power", and "Goddess Statue of Wisdom", the Spring of Courage Statue, the Spring of Power Statue, and the Spring of Wisdom Statue all ask Link to check on the Mother Goddess Statue, claiming they can no longer sense her presence.[9] Upon hearing that she has fallen over, the Great Goddess Statues task Link with offering their respective Dragon's claw at their springs so they can send a portion of their power to the Mother Goddess Statue.[10][11][12] After completing all of these Side Quests, "The Mother Goddess Statue" will begin, wherein Link must check back on the Mother Goddess Statue.[2][13] Upon his arrival, the Mother Goddess Statue will give Link the White Sword of the Sky as a sign of her gratitude.[14] She then instructs him to go and bring peace to the world.[15]

After restoring the Mother Goddess Statue, Link will be able to give her four Lights of Blessing in exchange for either a Heart Container or a Stamina Vessel.[16] She will also enhance his bond with any given Sage in return for four Sage's Wills.[17] In addition if Link has broken his White Sword of the Sky, she will give in another, given that he offers her Dinraal's Claw, Naydra's Claw, and Farosh's Claw first.[18][19]
