The Era of Prosperity is an Era in the Zelda Timeline.[1]

Overview

The Era of Prosperity began with the development of Sheikah Ancient Technology 10,000 years before the events of Breath of the Wild.[1] Due to their advanced Technology, the people of Hyrule Kingdom were protected from threats such as Monsters and lived peacefully.[2][3]

East Reservoir Lake

Every 10 years, the Region of Lanayru experiences heavy Rain that causes the Zora River to flood.[4] During the Era of Prosperity, this would cause damage to Zora's Domain and wash away the Zora who resided there.[5] After seeking aid from the King of Hyrule, the Zora and the Hylians joined forces to create the Rutala Dam and East Reservoir Lake.[6] This project was completed in a single year, and it halted the floods that would plague Hyrule from the Lanayru Great Spring.[7][8] Since then, the Zora kings have maintained the level of the Reservoir.[9]

The Battle against Calamity Ganon

Hyrule Kingdom began to prepare for possibility of Calamity Ganon's return.[10][11] This involved the construction of the Divine Beasts and the Guardians, which were designed to participate in the battle against Ganon.[12][13] Four Champions were chosen to pilot the Divine Beasts.[14][15] With their Ancient Technology, Princess, and the Ancient Hero, Hyrule was prepared to face Calamity Ganon.[16][17]

When Calamity Ganon inevitable emerged, Hyrule was prepared to face him.[18][19] The Princess and the Ancient Hero were protected by the Guardians while the Divine Beasts attacked Ganon.[20][21] After the final blow from the Master Sword, the Princess used her sacred power to seal Calamity Ganon once more.[22][23] As a result of this battle, a scar was left in the side of Hebra Peak.[24]

Banishment of Ancient Technology

Fearing the Ancient Technology of the Sheikah, the King of Hyrule and the rest of the Royal Family of Hyrule sought to get rid of it.[7][25] Some Sheikah willingly parted ways with their Technology, living normal lives afterwards and settling in Kakariko Village.[7][26] However, others became hateful of Hyrule Kingdom and formed the Yiga Clan, which swore loyalty to Calamity Ganon.[27]

All forms of Ancient Technology were buried. However, the Sheikah of Kakariko Village kept secret records pertaining to their locations. This included Divine Beast Vah Naboris and Divine Beast Vah Ruta, which were hidden in Gerudo Canyon and Zora's Domain, respectively.[28] Other records referred to the types of Guardians and the Giant Columns hidden below Hyrule Castle.[29]
