"Find the Fifth Sage" is a Main Quest in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]

Overview

After facing Phantom Ganon during the "Crisis at Hyrule Castle" Main Quest, Link and the Sages return to Purah and Lookout Landing, who is able to determine that Princess Zelda was making preparations for their fight against Demon King Ganondorf in the ancient past.[2] She believes that they could be missing a hint that she left for them.[3] Sidon agrees with her, claiming it is important for them to act now.[4] However, Riju is concerned by their lack of leads.[5]

Purah remembers that in all of their stories, Six Sages were involved in the Imprisoning War, and excluding Zelda, only four of them are accounted for.[6] Riju and Tulin are amazed, though Yunobo is confused.[7] Sidon then voices that they are missing one Sage.[8] In a flashback, Mineru can be seen fighting alongside her fellow Sages. Back in the present, Purah states that this is a lead they must follow, wondering if the final Sage could be within ruins from the ancient past.[9] Riju decides that they should start by searching these ruins.[10] Purah directs the Sages to search for clues in their respective Regions, while she asks Link to find leads on his own.[11] After they leave, "Find the Fifth Sage" will begin.

At Kakariko Village, Link can inform Paya and Tauro of the Phantom Ganon pretending to be Zelda.[12] Tauro realizes that the Floating Ring Ruin may be a threat to Demon King Ganondorf in some way, and since the Order of Princess Zelda no longer stands, they are now able to investigate.[13] Following this revelation, "Secret of the Ring Ruins" will start.

During "Secret of the Ring Ruins", Link enters a chamber on Dragonhead Island. Inside, he finds the Zonai Relic, which shoots a beam of light toward Tobio's Hollow when interacted with. He will then hear the voice of Mineru, telling him to take the Relic and follow the light.[14] Afterwards, "Secret of the Ring Ruins" will be completed, and "Guidance from Ages Past" will begin.

During "Guidance from Ages Past", Link reawakens Mineru as the Sage of Spirit, which he must then report to Purah.[15] Though she is initially shocked, Purah is excited to hear they have gathered all five Sages.[16] She is also relieved to hear of Zelda's actions in the distant past, which have restored the Master Sword in the modern day.[17] To find the Master Sword, Purah suggests that Link visit the Great Deku Tree in the Great Hyrule Forest.[18][note 1] Afterwards, both "Find the Fifth Sage" and "Crisis at Hyrule Castle" will be completed.[note 2]

Objectives

Stage Description
1 During the ancient Imprisoning War, it was Princess Zelda and the five other sages who fought with King Rauru against the Demon King.

Purah told you than in order to find the fifth sage, you should investigate ruins from the age of legends. The sages have their own regions covered, leaving you to search elsewhere.
2 According to Tauro, an account relating to the sages is in the Ring Ruins.

If you continue your investigation into the ruins, you may learn something about the fifth sage.
3 You discovered a Zonai relic at Dragonhead Island above Faron. The moment you touched it, you heard a mysterious voice echoing in your mind.

If you follow the voice's guidance, you should be able to come closer to finding the fifth sage.
4 After meeting the owner of the mysterious voice—the Sage of Spirit, Mineru—you learned about the Imprisoning War against the Demon King in the distant past and Princess Zelda's determination to restore the Master Sword.

You now have all the clues you need. Report to Purah at Lookout Landing.
Complete You told Purah of your meeting with Sage Mineru.

The five sages are finally ready. They will be steadfast allies in the fight with the Demon King.

Notes

  1. If Link has already obtained the Master Sword, Purah thanks him for following through on Zelda's wish, noting that he does not look like himself without it.[19] She then declares that Link is ready to face Demon King Ganondorf.[20]
  2. If Link has already completed "Recovering the Hero's Sword", the "Destroy Ganondorf" Main Quest will immediately begin.

  6. "Oh! Wait... You said that six sages were with King Rauru when he fought against the Demon King during the Imprisoning War, right? Wind... Fire... Water... Lightning... And time... That was the princess." — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  7. "Oooh!" — Tulin (Tears of the Kingdom)
"I see!" — Riju (Tears of the Kingdom)
"What is it? What do you see?" — Yunobo (Tears of the Kingdom)
  8. "That's it! There was one more sage back then!" — Sidon (Tears of the Kingdom)
  9. "Exactly! One more sage that might be here now! I'm sure this is the lead we were hoping for. It will be well worth our while to search! Each of you awakened as sages at ruins from the age of legends, right? Maybe the remaining sage is in a similar location." — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  10. "That makes sense. So we should search major ruins from the age of legends... They're as good a place as any to start. If we just searched all of Hyrule randomly, we'd probably never find the sage." — Riju (Tears of the Kingdom)
  11. "All right! We have a plan. Let's split up the work and get to it! You four go back to your homelands and gather information about ruins that might be related to the remaining sage. Linky, search around and see if you can find any other undiscovered leads! Everyone's relying on you! Don't let us down!" — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  12. "Wh-what? The Zelda who appeared after the Upheaval was a creation of the Demon King? And the real Princess Zelda still hasn't been found? But... How can this be true?" — Tauro (Tears of the Kingdom)
"It's such an unbelievable tale, and yet... I trust you completely, Master Link. It must be as you say. It is hard to explain, but the princess we saw was somehow unfamiliar... It was as though her very aura was different." — Paya (Tears of the Kingdom)
  13. "But if she was an impostor the whole time...that would mean... The real reason she ordered us to close off the floating Ring Ruin was... Because the Demon King saw it as a threat! Isn't that right?! That only means one thing. We should investigate the floating Ring Ruin immediately!" — Tauro (Tears of the Kingdom)
"You are exactly right! There is no longer any reason to prohibit your research. Let's open up the floating Ring Ruin at once, Mr. Tauro!" — Paya (Tears of the Kingdom)
  14. "Link... Zelda's chosen protector... Take this. Follow the light." — Mineru (Tears of the Kingdom)
  15. "After meeting the owner of the mysterious voice—the Sage of Spirit, Mineru—you learned about the Imprisoning War against the Demon King in the distant past and Princess Zelda's determination to restore the Master Sword.

You now have all the clues you need. Report to Purah at Lookout Landing.
" — Adventure Log (Tears of the Kingdom)
  16. "You found the Sage of Spirit?! M-Mineru? This... Is... Incredible! That means we have the five sages! Fantastic work, Link! I can't believe this is actually one of the sages who faced off against the Demon King alongside Princess Zelda..." — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  17. "And now we have news about the princess. There's some relief in that, at least. So... In the ancient past, Princess Zelda worked to restore the decayed Master Sword and return it to your hand. Trusting that you would defeat the Demon King in the present day. She did so much on her own... ..." — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  18. "The restored Master Sword is somewhere in this era. I'm sure of it. To start, you should probably talk to the Deku Tree about it, as Mineru advised. The Deku Tree is in the center of Great Hyrule Forest to the north of here. Princess Zelda left us with her final wish. It's up to us now. Talk to the Deku Tree—he may have a lead. You have to find the Master Sword!" — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  19. "The Master Sword was restored, you say? When were you planning on telling me?! And it was found on the head of a white dragon, of all places? That's...hard to believe... However... This was Princess Zelda's wish. One she believed in so strongly that she gave her life to see it through. For us... Thank you for finding the sword, Link. I have to say. You really don't look quite like yourself unless you've got the Master Sword at your side." — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
  20. "Now then, it seems you have all you need. You're prepared to face our enemy." — Purah (Tears of the Kingdom)
