Welcome Message

Hey, I never thanked you for that welcome message, so thanks! RazTwilight 07:11, 25 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No problem ;)Mandi Talk 15:27, 25 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
As well as RazTwilight, I would like to thank you for the welcome message too! How did you get your user-page to say what zelda games you have? Thanks for your support :) Green-Link 07:19, 03 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi Green-Link, those are called userboxes. We have a large selection, which can be found here. For help on how to put them on your page, read the short tutorial here.Steve 15:33, 3 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
An example, on the list page, there's a section "Required code", by copying and pasting that code onto your page, you will get the userbox. If I paste

{{User owns LoZ}} the I'll get Template:User owns LoZ

And to keep them organized, put the userbox codes between {{Userbox container r|}} and |} Steve 15:40, 3 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ya know your friends list? Can I be on there! Thank you for the welcome message! XD --GanonLink76 19:47, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, actually I am really not adding anyone to my friend list at the moment. So, I would rather not. Sorry :/Mandi Talk 19:55, 3 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey Mandi! :) Firstly I'd like to thank you for the welcome message, and secondly, I was wondering how you made such a colorful signature, could you tell me how please? (By signature, I mean your ZeldaWiki autograph that can be used with the four ~s) - ShellShocker 07:28, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hmm, I made a new signature. I'm not sure if it is okay though. Also, no I'm not from the Mario Wiki, and I don't remember putting an image in my signature. Unless you mean the box of the date when I editted that post, then I have no clue how it happened. Can you help? ShellShockeR (Talk) 12:52, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

RE:Hello & User Sig

My pleasure, it's simply what I do. Though I may not have extensive knowledge about the Legend of Zelda series, nor very much knowledge of it at all (seeing as how, sadly, I've never completed a single game in it, or gotten very far for that matter), I do, fortunately enough, have sufficient grasp of the English language. If I cannot offer new material, at the very last I may still be able to revise information.

Quite so, though they don't generally deter me. -§tigma-231 »₩hen the blazing sun is gone[talk][cont] 04:19, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ah, my apologies. That was the signature format I generally use in most wikis. I hope this is better? -§tigma-231 »[talk][cont] 05:27, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, that is better. Though, sub-pages are the way to go (I have one) You can still do all that stuff like color change, links, ect. But, yeah, this is better.Mandi Talk 05:32, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Excellent, and I usually use sub-pages, but I wanted to see if I could go without creating a page exclusively for me and my signatures this time. I believe it's working well enough thus far. -§tigma-231 »[talk][cont] 05:50, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Welcome messages

Hi (or hello?)

Just a quick note on welcoming new users to the wiki; I've noticed that recently you've used either the wrong template or incorrect formatting to do this. The correct (and only) way we should be using the welcome templates is:

{{subst:hi|<yourusernamehere>}}

I've noticed a lot of variations on this, mainly either forgetting to "subst" or using the Hello tempalte directly, but neither are correct. The subst is necessary as it places the entire paragraph of text in the user's talk page (a lot clearer and easier to understand/respond to for a new or inexperienced user). Using the Hello template is not appropriate as it misses off the section header; also, why would you want to type something longer than necessary? ;) Please don't think I'm nagging for the sake of it, I just think that with so few of us actually doing the welcoming, it'd be nice to get some consistency going. Thanks! Adam [ talk ] 07:11, 6 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Someone used copy and paste. You made a spelling error.
I might also add that you should change the edit summary to say Welcome. That makes it look more professional.Emma (Talk) 08:22, February 6, 2009 (UTC)
Will do. I have seen several users type {{Hello|USERNAME}}, and seeing how both ways work, I was wondering if I was using the wrong method :P Thank you for clearing that up ;)Mandi Talk 16:34, 6 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Okay, Matt will remember that as well.
Wait, a Hello template and a Hi template!? I was unaware of that, my apologies.Mandi Talk 16:37, 6 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Improve Template

I noticed you've been placing the improve template on many of these new TRR pages, however, the template is usually used in articles that are unorganized and lacking in detail, not necessarily that they're short. The stub template is a better choice.Steve 18:36, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Didn't know that :P I'll go and replace it then.Mandi Talk 18:37, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I was learning how to do basicly this and I decided to make it worth wile.

I ment not to ofend eney one I tryed onley to find out how to edit pages so i could do my profile. I hope I did not do enything wrong...did i?

Mandi is merely following the rules of the wiki. There is nothing personal here. We have certain standards here on Zelda Wiki (found here). Your edits simply fail to meet these standards and are not acceptable. We require a certain level of professionalism here. Any content that is not up to par with the standards is removed. That is the rules.Emma (Talk) 04:34, February 11, 2009 (UTC)

Umm

That might not have been the best edits on the Goron page. I did three =s to make subsections within each Section(game) The gametitle was serving as an overview and the intention of the subsections was to add some sanity to the massive walls of text. Now the content table looks jumbled. Let me know what you were planning, bc i think it should be reverted.Axiomist (talk) 06:02, 1 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I tweaked it a bit. Now the game titles stand out more. Improving readability.Emma (Talk) 06:35, March 1, 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, that was my fault there, sorry about that :PMandi Talk 06:39, 1 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Matt, was it an oversight, or is this how you think would be best: The Trivia and References are now subsections of PH.?Axiomist (talk) 06:41, 1 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm guessing that was something that I missed. This seems to be your project page. Do what you will with it.Emma (Talk) 08:14, March 1, 2009 (UTC)

Will do, I'm fairly new to the Goron project, we need something fresh in the featured articles rotation. Sorry to take this all up in your talk page Mandi.Axiomist (talk) 17:26, 1 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Moving Userpages

Why do normal users like me have such an ability? I understand (in certain cases) when it can be moved... but in most cases, there is no need. Looking at it reminded me of Ranny, who moved it from "User:Lord Ranny" to "Ranny". Much like the protect tab is hidden, why should the Userpages have the move tab? I understand that it is by defult, but Matt or someone can easily change that. If the user wants their username changed, moving it won't do anything but rename the page itself. An admin would have to change it. User:Austin2862/sig 20:20, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

I do not even know if those settings can be changed. Even if they could, that would take root access which only Jason has. Page moving is open to registered users on all wikis using MediaWiki software. This is because they are considered more trusted than unregistered members. And since only registered users can edit here, that deters most vandals. And the ones that do register never wait to vandalize. They do it right away. And to date only one user has ever used page moving to vandalize. And his work was undone literally within seconds. There are limitations to what a normal use can move though. Sometime when moving a page to one that already exists the software will not allow it. Sometimes it will. It seems to be completely random. Admins are given the option to delete the target page. But it definitely won't let you move say, Link to Ganon. Only to minor pages like redirects or pages that do not exist. So there is less harm done if it is miss-used.Emma (Talk) 23:31, March 12, 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I notice you're doing some deleting, so can you get rid of these. File:Mel Avi.png‎ File:Mel Sig.png‎ File:Mel's Linebeck.jpg‎

Hi Template

I noticed that you said that posting {{subst:hi|Alter}} is the correct way to do it, but I thought that was what I did. I checked the history, and it says:

07:18, April 25, 2009 Alter (Talk | contribs) m (17 bytes) (Created page with '{subst:hi|Alter}}')

What did I do wrong? Thanks. Alter  {T C B H } 18:58, 25 April 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

If you check the revision history. You will see that the first edit, you typed it correctly. The second edit you changed it to the incorrect way.Mandi Talk 19:03, 25 April 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh, I see. Ok, thanks Mandi! Alter  {T C B H } 19:41, 25 April 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Other Template talk

Mandi, I've noticed you've corrected my stuff ALOT. How the
thing works please? Smashbrother101 23:28, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well, I really didn't edit your work that much. Mainly placing the userboxes into categories, adding usage instruction, and on one, I believe, I edited the image size. So really, minor edits. One userbox in particular though, you forgot to add:
|}</div><noinclude>
<br/><br/><br/><br/>
Which is placed at the bottom of the userbox coding, and centers it on the page. Without that, the userbox will be placed on the page incorrectly.Mandi Talk 23:47, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Battle Template

Hi Manadi, I noticed you delted the template I was working on. I know it was very bad made, but as I explained this was my first try to make template and I was working on mading it better; however if you think it's worthless I will go with your policies. I think you say that because there are really few battles, ok then, I'll expand the battles if I have time but without a template :) BenitoPerezGaldos 16:30, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

From what I can tell, there really aren't many battles in the series. But, if necessary, another template could be made. There are a lot of people that are skilled with creating/editing templates.Mandi Talk 17:46, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Edit Removal

Forgive me if I'm doing this wrong. I am assuming that the way to comment is to edit. Anyways. I am writing in regards to a page I added information to. I would like to know why that was removed. Do you even know what the page is in regards to in the first place? It's a Zelda discussion forum. One that U belong to myself. So I decided to actually put in a description. I don't see what was so unnescessery about it. The page itself was started by someone else who goes to the forums. But the only problem was that he left it blank. A place like that needs some kind of description. Isn't that the point of Zelda Wiki? -fiskelJenkins

Few things here. First, I started this in its own section. Second, you need to use ~~~~ to sign your posts. Third, I do not even know which article you are talking about. If an edit was removed, it was most likely not up to our quality standards.Mandi Talk 13:43, 20 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oh. forgive me. I was referring to the article on The Sacred Realm Zelda fansite. The one run by Lysia and is a current collaborator for Zelda Wiki. She asked fellow members to get involved and start contributing. One fellow member there did. Only he left it blank. FiskelJenkins 17:12, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The page in question was removed on May 18th at 6:18 I believe.FiskelJenkins 17:12, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oh, that page :P Yeah, that page was deleted because there is a page on Lysia's site here. The other page was deleted because...well..as you can see, there is already a page about the site :PMandi Talk 13:33, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ah, I see. I had thought the one I was editing was the only one. Typical of that "certain" member to make a page that already existed. LOL. Now, if I have anything to add, I'll do so there. within reason of course. thank you so much for having gotten back to me. Have a good day.FiskelJenkins 17:12, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

When you sign your username, all you need to type are these:
~~~~
That is it. That will automatically sign your username, time, and date. You do not need to do anything else.Mandi Talk 18:09, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
FiskelJenkins 18:16, 21 May 2009 (UTC)FiskelJenkins ( Thanks for the help on that. I got it down now. No more problems in the future. Promise. :D.Reply[reply]
Ehh...sorta :P You want to use these: ~~~~ on the end of your post. Not the beginning :PMandi Talk 18:19, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello, as to not create a really unneeded dispute over it, can I simply ask why you reverted my edit? If I'm not mistaken, that picture is from Majora's Mask. There are a couple things that show it's not from Ocarina of Time's Kakariko Village. I can elaborate further if necessary, however, I don't think it's too hard to spot. - TonyT S C 02:56, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh geez :/ Sorry, dude. Yeah, I've never played MM but I assumed the picture was from OoT. Sorry about that. I reverted my edit.Mandi Talk 03:29, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You've never played it?! You should, but I won't force you. :P It seems to need a picture from OoT which I might be able to get, no garuntees since my camera's not very good. Anyway, sorry for the misunderstandings. - TonyT S C 03:49, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
