Announcement above

That ain't working right for me. All I'm seeing is to buy" survey blah blah blah. (not blah blah blah, but you know what I mean.) You may wanna check it out.User:Justin ZW/sig 15:11, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Is this better? • Pete | 15:15, 25 November 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Indeed it is.User:Justin ZW/sig 15:16, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the update, Ax. Already signed up. :) Alter  {T C B H } 18:01, November 25, 2009 (UTC)

Patrol

Do you have to patrol edits to things like userpages or sig pages?User:Justin ZW/sig 06:06, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Yup, anything that shows up on the recent changes gets patrolled. I don't regulate user pages too much. If I see misspellings they stay there. Unnecessary Wanted Pages get removed, but if I see something offensive to some people(rare) instead of removing it, I ask them what's the problem or something. Axiomist (talk) 06:09, 27 November 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Huh. Strange. So when I changed my sig to script, you had to patrol that?User:Justin ZW/sig 06:38, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Rename of Sale's House O' Bananas

Thank you! It's something that's been bothering me mildly for a while but I never got round to doing anything about it! • Pete | 07:12, 27 November 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No problem, it bothered me too but I didn't do anything to it without taking the time to get my save files there to pull some quotes. Eventually we'll have a reference on just about every page :P Axiomist (talk) 18:06, 27 November 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Can we not just use text dumps for getting exact quotes? • Pete | 18:19, 27 November 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You can, I just find it easier to go to the area in the game. I use text dumps for story quotes or for the ease of copy/pasting quotes in. Axiomist (talk) 18:21, 27 November 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Testing

Oh, NOW Cody makes an edit with his new template :PUser:Justin ZW/sig 02:06, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
I don't know what the purpose of that is, but it's biased towards one site, which violates the purpose of ZW. Alter  {T C B H } 02:58, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
Actually, Alter, it's a template for use by ALL bureaucrats. Take a look.User:Justin ZW/sig 03:02, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
ys, I know that, but the fact is that it's like for whoever gets there first. Something doesn't feel right about it. IDK... Alter  {T C B H } 03:46, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
True...I see your point, and now I kinda agree...User:Justin ZW/sig 03:56, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Well, like I told them when I first had the idea, the ones that won't pick up any members are the ones that completely ignore the wiki. The ones that pick up the most will be the ones to pitch in with the patrolling from time to time, and I told them how to use the namespace invert on the Recent Changes to populate the list with just Talk pages and User Talk pages to look for instances of people taking polls on favorite boss/item/character etc (Discussions fit for forums and not the wiki). Proportionate returns are never 100% fair from the group perspective; the individual's perspective will see it as very fair. Axiomist (talk) 04:24, 30 November 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

ZWAIF

I'm guessing the goal is to get noobs to put Template:ZELDA on their page? :D Alter  {T C B H }

The goal is to whip those stubs into shape for the brave new Hyrule! and why aren't you in Skype? Well until you are, you won't get the links I found that would help you promote OV, at the cost of promoting ZW as well ;) Axiomist (talk) 07:06, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Useful Info

Any of you fellow FireFox users should look up Grease Monkeys and WikED extensions, bc they work here in so many awesome ways. Here is a screenshot of what you could have. It highlights the references, images, html coding, in different colors, can be toggled to hide, does text replace, has buttons to fix spacing, punctuation, makes tables, and is just a notch below Dr. Pepper in Awesomeness. Axiomist (talk) 12:41, 4 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oh man, thank you so much for showing this to me, Ax! This definitely makes editing the wiki easier. I love how it highlights the references, seeing how I'm always adding references and such. I'll have to mess around with it a little bit more to see what else it offers. Thanks again! :) Dany36 06:01, 6 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Grease Monkey can be found here for Firefox users.
Once that's installed, WikED can be downloaded here. You know, just for those who don't feel like using Google. Alter  {T C B H } 01:23, December 12, 2009 (UTC)

CSS Page

Hey, sorry I'm flooding the recent changes, but you know that you can't fully preview the CSS stylings without saving them. Is there any way to keep my CSS edits off the recent changes and patrol logs? I don't want to make people mad.User:Justin ZW/sig 23:36, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

The only way I could do that is to change your user account to a staff account then bot, which would hide everything you do and mark it as patrolled automatically. We always discuss changing anyone's user rights before doing it, and I don't think many of the staff would support this case. Sorry tho, the only thing I can say is to think deeply on changes before making them and spread it out over a few days if necessary.Axiomist (talk) 23:44, 4 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That's what I thought. The only problem with thinking out changes is that I don't know what is going to make what. I'm basically testing, here. I just want to get a good looking wiki view. In fact, I'm almost done. I just need to move a few things around. Afterwards, I'm going on to my js page >:P
But really, I want to check that out. I copied Matt's js page and changed it up so that I could use it. He's got some NEAT stuff, here. For example, there's a UTC clock displayed in the upper-right hand corner, directly to the right of "log out". It's constantly updating, too, so it's a working atomic clock. He also has some sidebar stuff. I swear, this is some cool stuff. You should check it out. But I must ask:Why does your js consist only of the admin rights thing? Does it give you quick toolbar links to admin functions?User:Justin ZW/sig 23:52, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Yeah its one of those things I didn't really research, it's still pretty new to us and whatever Matt and Adam said was useful I added. Even tho, I have the redirects one, I never use it bc I'm not willing to get involved in the mess of keeping inline redirects off of ZW. Double redirects can be fixed instantly by the bot when Adam runs it, and that means the only redirects that should be changed are the ones that link to disambig pages. Axiomist (talk) 00:00, 5 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Wait...I've been deleting double redirects for NOTHING?!?! GAH!!!!!
...Anyways, I'm experimenting with adding new personal links. I'm going to be putting up a link to my wikistuff page so that I can easily access that for quick modification of my userpage. Pretty handy, eh? I think this is my new hobby for the time.User:Justin ZW/sig 00:06, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

We meant to tell you... but didn't want to come across as nagging, bc yeah you can fix it if you want, but the bot can too... these however can only be fixed by an edit hungry human. Axiomist (talk) 00:11, 5 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Holy crap...that's a lot. If only we had something to help us...
I'll probably work on those a little bit later when I'm kicked off the real computer. I can't waste this opportunity to make some neat stuff, though. I promise you I'll tackle them later. :3User:Justin ZW/sig 00:15, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

GIMP

I don't suppose you know anything about GIMP? I just downloaded it, but I have no idea what to do next.User:Justin ZW/sig 02:10, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Very little. I had it on here, but realized that I 1.) barely use it, and 2.) know enough people to get my drawings touched up when I need it. So I didn't keep it. Is there anything specific you are wondering? Axiomist (talk) 02:13, 6 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Uhh...how do I install it? :PUser:Justin ZW/sig 02:18, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Download it, Save, run... It should leave a desktop icon. It's not as simple as MSPaint, so it might take some getting used to, you'll flip through windows to change brushes, etc.Axiomist (talk) 02:24, 6 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I know a bit about it. Lemme know on my talk page if you need some help with it. Alter  {T C B H } 03:21, December 6, 2009 (UTC)

Disambiguation Links

I'm starting a project to kill all disambiguation links. Details here. (If it's a red link, then you're FAST! Wait a minute while I make the flippin' page!)User:Justin ZW/sig 21:05, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

My first concern is the word 'red links' wanted pages are welcome, if they are valid...but I'll have more time to look over it this weekend. Thanks for taking up the disambig link project tho. Axiomist (talk) 03:17, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Skype Chat

Now that I'm on break, I'm tryna be part of the ZW Skype chat. =) Can you add me to the chatroom? My ID is cipriano_119. — ciprianotalk 23:07, 13 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I went ahead and added you, seeing as Ax isn't online now. Alter  {T C B H } 23:18, December 13, 2009 (UTC)

"You Link"

Hello, I saw the tag on the Nintendo Gallery page and decided to edit said page to fit a more professional style. Would you mind reviewing it and removing the tag if it's up to quality standards? - TonyT S C 03:19, 16 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Will do, I normally go through the unpatrolled edits backlog from oldest to newest, but I'll check that out now while we are both online. Axiomist (talk) 03:21, 16 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm sorry, I didn't know your procedure and I wish(ed) to help out more like this so I wanted to know if it was sufficient. - TonyT S C 01:12, 20 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No reason to apologize, I was just letting you know why there was a delay in my marking it and reviewing your change. Always feel free to point out something you think we might have overlooked, or even if you just want an immediate answer to something. Axiomist (talk) 03:50, 20 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Nintendo Alliance

Hello Axiomist! It would be nice if you could check this. Is an idea from Archaic that sounds really nice, it has got full support from us (MarioWiki), we just need Steve to aprove. It would be great if ZeldaWiki wanted to take part in this. Tucayo

Thank you for bringing that to my attention here. We've been discussing it in skype. Well I guess the secret is out, The Revolution of the Independent Wikis is underway. Oh and I wanted to inform you that the MarioWiki Affiliation was pretty popular on our FaceBook page! Axiomist (talk) 03:12, 19 January 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Zelda Wikia

HI! Check this. Looks like Zelda Wikia is now angry.... BTW, I heard you may like to change your Featured voting, I am willing to help if I may be needed :) --Tucayo 23:14, 8 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sorry to hear that. And about the voting, yes, we are still waiting on Nate's draft for changes. But I knew from the beginning that SMW would probably have a hand in revolutionizing some of our policies. Axiomist (talk) 01:10, 9 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It was an impersonator. ZP guys dont know nothing about that >_> Cool. I saw your system was voting on 1 thing per month and using a template in each suer talk to show who voted. Perhaps you would like to take a look at MarioWiki:Featured Articles and MarioWiki:Featured Images. Not the best system in the world, but it does its job. --Tucayo 02:41, 9 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sorry

By the way, sorry about the edit on KingDinner‎'s page. -- կրակ (խոսել) -- 08:41, 13 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'll let you know when the game is released in beta and advertised in other ways. -- կրակ (խոսել) -- 09:14, 13 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

By the way, can you please undo the deletion, move the page to User:Ember Incubus/Projects‎/SM, then delete the original page and relock the page? -- կրակ (խոսել) -- 00:18, 14 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Link articles

Hi!! You seem interested in standardizing the See Also section. We can link enemies (and characters??) only if they share a same appearance and are defeated in the same manner (or have the same role in the game for the characters). For the type of enemies or habitat, we can create categories (plant-based, birds, etc.). There is already some: OctoFamily, undead. For undead we can create subcategories such as ghosts, stalfos, Zombies/Mummy, etc. For the merge, alright it is an English/American wiki but it is a japanese game, so shouldn't Japanese names prevailed over English ones when there is two different names in the American version for the same character?? Jeangabin 21:31, 14 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I don't normally correct spellings in the talk space, but I had to, lest I not understand what you just wrote. (sorry if that offends, but it needed to be said) Anyway, the sub-category idea is D.O.A. we keep subjectivity out of categorization. Rather than forcing this to fit in formal tags like categories and See Also sections, you should probably try to create a template like "other similar enemies" or something. See Also is meant to be used when an article alone can't fully describe what's being discussed. So the Golden Goddesses would likely need a referral to the Triforce, and etc. not necessarily other Deities. Axiomist (talk) 05:17, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Opinoins

Can you please comment on the page I just made? -- կրակ (խոսել) -- 19:17, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I've commented on it in skype. It's a grey area, on one hand it's in the user namespace, on the other hand I have to patrol all of that, it's unfitting of wikis bc wikis are collaboration tools and game expectation topics are more fitting for a forum. Other than my user page itself, whenever I make a userspace page, it's something I that I hope could benefit the wiki, and allow others to edit. Otherwise, I'd make them as a forum thread to just get opinions on my work. Axiomist (talk) 19:23, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, actualy, it was ment for a forum. > .> I just made this as a rough draft. By the way, I don't use skype. -- կրակ (խոսել) -- 19:25, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The purpose of the wiki isn't to serve as your online Wordpad for forum rough draft posts. Keep in mind that you are eating into the server with these things. Axiomist (talk) 19:27, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
As I had the same comment on my userpage, and wanted to keep the conversation centralized, I shall reply back here. I agree with Ax on this one, Ember. However, With your ideas, I feel you'd be a great candidate for the WikiExclusive program here at Zelda Wiki.org. Basically, the WikiExclusive is a written fan-made article about anything related to Zelda, completely up to you. It carries little to no rules (just no profanity, and keep the topic Zelda related), and the structure is user-created, as long as the article is of a good length (2 full pages is just fine). For publication, you'd have to send it to one of the admins (or to me, and I'll send it to them) for review. And that's about it! The staff must approve it, and it will get published here on ZW. If you're interested, just let me know!

Part Two

Sory, but I am rather eager to know about the Mastermind's discussion about my page. Can someone atleast tell me if you guys are considering it, if you decided to shunn the project, or if you can't saying anything yet becuase you guys have not come to an agreement? You don't have to. Sorry if I seem impaitent. -- կրակ (խոսել) -- 09:28, 6 March 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No agreement has gone down yet. Other than the fact that a few of realize we'll have some rewording to do in the article for grammar corrections. That's one reason the staff is meant to put the Wiki Exclusives up, so that all of the grammar and spelling can be inline with our standards. I understand English isn't your first language, but if you have a friend or someone willing to look at your work and clean it up, it will probably fare much better when other staff members read it. Thanks for deciding to submit it as a Wiki Exclusive! That saves us the trouble of determining what to do with pages that kinda fit in on ZW, but kinda don't.Axiomist (talk) 09:51, 6 March 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
