Why is it that this page only states holes Wind Waker and Twilight Princess? Unless I'm mistaken, they have appeared in almost every Zelda game to date, including Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.Steve 20:38, 15 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I see your point. This is one of the weirder pages that turn up when ya hit "Random Page". Well if you edit it enough to give it some direction; I could always help fill in some details.Axiomist (talk) 23:12, 15 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I've found a similar article and suggested a merge, but I'm not sure how much good that will do this page, since most of the stuff on that article seems like wild fan speculation. In any case, yeah, this article really does need expanding. Jimbo Jambo 18:02, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Merge also with Lantern Cavern? Perhaps something like "Cave" would be the best name for all of these combined. Jimbo Jambo 01:58, 13 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yea 'holes' could mean too many things. The holes in LttP, Dark World forest area fell into the dungeon itself but most of them do lead to grottos, caves, or death. I support any sort of compilation now and we could always change the name of it later if need be.Axiomist (talk) 02:12, 13 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Wow, this could really use some re-organizing. We've got Dungeons, Caves, Secret Caves, Secret Grottos, Lantern Caverns, Category:Mini-Dungeons, and Holes and a lot of overlap between them. Here's my suggestion for consolidating:

Suggested Consolidation

  • dungeon: Must contain a boss character, must be mandatory to complete the game
  • mini-dungeon: Must contain a major treasure (such as the iron boots in the ice cavern) and usually a mini-boss (White Wolfos counts)
  • secret cave: Also known as Secret Grottos, may or may not contain enemies, cannot contain a mini-boss, must be uncovered with bombs or digging, usually contains minor treasure such as heart pieces or rupees or fairies/Great Fairies, sometimes contains hidden shops.
    • lantern cavern: a type of secret cave whose main characteristic is that it's unlit. Always large and always contains enemies. Not to be confused with unlit dungeon basements. Could probably be part of the Secret Grotto page.
  • hole: too generic, don't use, add to dictionary as the thing link can fall down found in dungeons
  • cave: too generic, don't use, add to dictionary, could apply to any of the above
Secret Grottos are only named as such in Ocarina of Time, and maybe The Wind Waker if I recall. Applying that name to all of the hidden caves like that in the series would be a mistake. That's why it is separated in the first place.Emma (Talk) 15:58, June 1, 2009 (UTC)
Unless they have another official name in the other games, I think "secret grotto" works well as a generic name for all similar hidden caves. Unless you just want to call them hidden caves, which I think would needlessly separate two very similar concepts into different pages.

I just searched some text dumps and found that he term "Secret Grotto" doesn't appear in either OoT, TWW or TP. Based on that I'd be more inclined to go with the one you missed, Secret Cave which is a name actually used in-game (TWW). Adam [ talk ] 18:38, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Updated my suggestions with Secret Cave included.

So uhh, nothing ever happened with this. I'll throw in another conjectural title Underground Cavern/Chamber. Either are fine with me. Axiomist (talk) 07:03, 9 August 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's a decent sized undertaking to consolidate all the underground places. I say it's a good idea. I wouldn't know how to go about it, though. --Ionizer 10:33, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I think all of the underground places should be merged under "Underworld" or something similar.Ganondorfdude11 18:06, 17 August 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
