Hot-Air Balloons are Objects in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]

Location and Uses

Hot-Air Balloons are made by attaching a Balloon to a Basket. Alternatively, they can also be made by connecting a Balloon and a piece of Wood to a platform, such as a Stone Slab or a Lattice.[2] When burning Wood or an active Flame Emitter is placed under the Balloon, the Basket will be lifted into the air. The Schema Stone for the Hot-Air Balloon Schematic is given to Link as a reward for completing the "A Mystery in the Depths" Side Adventure.[3] It costs six Zonaite to create a Hot-Air Balloon with Autobuild when neither of the building supplies are present.

Impa owns a Hot-Air Balloon given to her by Purah, which she uses to travel Hyrule.[4] However, it was broken when she attempted to investigate the Geoglyph on the North Hyrule Plain.[4] During the "Impa and the Geoglyphs" Main Quest Link is able to repair the Hot-Air Balloon Ultrahand, and Impa invites him to view the Geoglyph from the air with her.[5]

Robbie is also in possession of a Hot-Air Balloon, though it will initially be broken.[6] During "A Mystery in the Depths", Josha asks Link to repair it to demonstrate his new Autobuild ability.[7] Once his Hot-Air Balloon is restored, Robbie is able to depart Lookout Landing for the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab.[8]

During the "Mattison's Independence" Side Adventure, Hudson decides to make a unique Hot-Air Balloon for his daughter Mattison, known as the Sun Balloon.[9]

Gerudo Town is pretty far from here, and there are plenty of monsters along the way. So, I thought I'd make Mattison her own special air balloon! But...I want to make it really special. Something just for her. I'm just...not sure how to do that." — Hudson (Tears of the Kingdom)
