Tooreroof Ruins are Zonai Ruins found throughout the Depths. There are sixteen Tooreroof Ruins in total. Each Tooreroof Ruin consists of a slightly raised square stone platform with stairs on each side leading up to it. On each corner, there is a pillar with a light source on top. In the middle of the platform, there is a pile of Sand, which is patterned with concentric circles in a manner similar to that seen in a Zen garden. Above the platform, there is a large stonework pillar that makes up the majority of the structure. Each edge of the pillar is decorated with light sources and a depiction of Dragons, with the heads of the Dragons ending at the wider base of the pillar. The pillar extends upward into the ceiling of the Depths, through any terrain that may be in the way. On the bottom face of the pillar is a design of concentric circles, with Zonai runes in the center. Each Tooreroof Ruin is also rotated so their sides are aligned with the cardinal directions, with the exception of the one in Korok Grove.

The primary purpose of Tooreroof Ruins is to function as points where Link can use Ascend to leave the Depths and reach the Surface. This is because using Ascend to pass through the ceiling of the Depths is blocked everywhere else, except at the bottom of the Deku Tree Chasm. Utilizing the Tooreroof Ruin within Korok Grove is also the only method of reaching Korok Forest for the first time.

When Link uses Ascend at the majority of the Tooreroof Ruins, he will emerge at a location on the Surface within eyesight of a Geoglyph.

Nomenclature

The name "Tooreroof Ruin" is derived from MinusObj_TooreroofRuins_A_02, the internal name for these structures. Tooreroof is the internal term used for Ascend and some objects related to it,[2] so "Tooreroof Ruin" can be interpreted to mean "Ascend Ruin".

The Japanese name for Ascend, トーレルーフ (Tōrerūfu), is derived from 通れる (Tōreru) and ルーフ (Rūfu).
