The Dueling Peaks are a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2][3]

Features and Overview

Breath of the Wild

The Dueling Peaks are a large mountain located in West Necluda that has been split in half.[4] The Squabble River flows between the two Peaks, alongside which trails the only road connecting most of Necluda to the rest of Hyrule. The Peaks are also bordered by Dueling Peaks South and North Dueling Peaks. Ree Dahee Shrine, Shee Venath Shrine, and Shee Vaneer Shrine are all situated on the Dueling Peaks. The Peaks are the namesake of both Dueling Peaks Tower and Dueling Peaks Stable, which sit near the mountain's base. The tops of the Peaks become a Freezing Climate due to their high altitude, requiring at least one level of Cold Resistance for Link to traverse the area without taking damage.

According to legends, the Dueling Peaks were split by a Dragon Deity in order to create a path between them.[5] In modern times, the Peaks are known for their abundant Ore Deposits and Rare Ore Deposits, which makes them a popular spot for miners.[6][7] Bugut, a former mountain Climber, recounts scaling the Dueling Peaks in his youth.[8]

Two Treasure Chests can be found on top of the Dueling Peaks. The first is a metal Chest, located along the southern edge of the northern Peak, and it contains a Traveler's Bow. The second Chest is also made of metal, and it can be found on the southeastern corner of the northern Peak. This Chest holds a Boomerang.

A total of four separate Korok Seed Puzzles are located at the Dueling Peaks. The first is a Natural Hiding Spot, which takes the form of a Rock on top of the northern Peak. The second is an Offering Spot, situated on the southern Peak. The third Puzzle is another Natural Hiding Spot Rock, this time on the northwestern end of the southern peak. The final Puzzle is marked by a large pair of Trees, which Link must roll a Boulder between. Whenever one of these Puzzles is solved, a Korok will appear and give Link a Korok Seed.[9]

The Dueling Peaks return in Tears of the Kingdom. Several pieces of debris have fallen onto the Peaks, which Link can use Recall on in order to reach the Sky Islands above.

During the "An Unfamiliar World" and the "Zelda and Sonia" Memories, the Dueling Peaks can be seen joined together as a singular mountain in the ancient past. The Floor Map also depicts the Dueling Peaks as one mountain.
