Across Time
"Across Time" is a Movie in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.[1]
Overview
"Across Time" plays upon starting Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity for the first time.
The Movie starts on the day of the Great Calamity as Calamity Ganon circles Hyrule Castle and Guardians overrun Hyrule Castle Town.[2] In Zelda's study, a box containing the Diminutive Guardian is knocked off a shelf. At Ash Swamp, Zelda defends Link from a Guardian by awakening her sealing powers. Simultaneously, the Guardian in her Study is activated by her power and escapes its box.
Looking out the window, the Guardian witnesses the destruction of Hyrule Castle Town, and it hears Zelda's wish to protect everyone.[3] Nodding, the Guardian plays a tune that opens a Gate of Time. At that moment, the door to Princess Zelda's Study is blown open by a Guardian. Although it is unable to fit through the doorway, it locks its gaze on the smaller Guardian. The Guardian manages to dodge its laser and fall through the Gate of Time. Before the Gate closes, several pieces of Calamity Ganon's Malice follows the Guardian through.
An altered version of the Screen of the Ancient Hero can be seen, featuring two pilots for each Divine Beast and the Diminutive Guardian. Text describes it as depicting the Great Calamity the Guardian faced with the Champions.[4] The version of Calamity Ganon depicted on the tapestry suddenly animates, and the title to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is revealed. In the final scene of the Movie, the Guardian arrives in Hyrule Field on a clear day in the past.
Trivia
- "Across Time" depicts the Great Calamity as it happened in Breath of the Wild, rather than the version seen in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. This is most notable when Zelda saves Link, which resembles the Recovered Memory "Zelda's Awakening" from Breath of the Wild.[5] This Calamity can later be seen in the "Plans for the Future" Movie. The Guardian of Remembrance Downloadable Content pack added the Movie "The Journey Begins", which shows this Great Calamity from the perspective of Calamity Ganon's Malice.
- In the Movie "The Princess's Most Devoted Protector", which takes during the Great Calamity altered by Terrako traveling to the past, Zelda makes the same wish to protect everyone that she does in "Across Time".
