Twilit Igniter Fyrus (August 6, 2008)

This is a really awesome image. Steven did most of the rendering on this. I only made a tiny, minor fix to it. It really stands out among the bosses of Twilight Princess. It is far more deserving of featured status than the Ganon image.Emma (Talk) 18:47, July 7, 2008 (UTC)

  4. He bursts into flames. Ganondorf doesn't burst into flames, especially not of his own volition! Also, he freaked me out more than any form of Ganon ever did. Basic reaction to first encounter with Fyrus: "o_. That guy's is big. ... HOLY S***! ITS ON FIRE! AWESOME!" Vote for the awesome self-combustion boss. ~SladeJT

  9. Fyrus was the first TP boss I ever beat, I went to Nintendo World NY and they had a demo of TP with the abridged goron mines dungeon, but left the Fyrus fight intact. Adventure of Link Sword (October 3, 2008)

This is the sword that was featured on the box art for The Adventure of Link. It took many long hours of work to get this image out of it. It is a beautiful image. And our more-picky members cannot single this one out like they did to the excellent Master Sword one. Yes, The Adventure of Link is the most hated (or least-liked) of the canon Zelda games. But there is little else from the game with this quality.Emma (Talk) 19:22, August 21, 2008 (UTC)

  4. Well, I'd certainly agree that the image itself merits being featured. It does present a bit of a conundrum though. As I understand it, this is the only sword found in AoL, and it is widely believed to be the same as the Magical Sword found in LoZ, as stated in the article. Furthermore, zelda.com suggests that the Magical Sword and the Master Sword are one and the same! In terms of featuring the image itself, the ambiguity of the subject matter does worry me slightly - but I still support it. Adam [ talk ] 16:58, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

  • OK, I can't vote either way on this. While I love the new image, and disliked the background of the old one, my problem is that the new render isn't true to the original. My favourite part of this image (and all the light spirits) was the shafts of light radiating outwards from the sphere. But uinfortunately that element is lost on the new version, and somehow replaced with other lighting effects I can't even see in the original. Some of the magic is lost for me, so for that reason I can't support it. Zelda Wii

  1. The image has little chance of it being a hoax anymore. Aside from that, it is a great size and quality. It is likewise a great painting, and having this as a featured picture is definitely worthwhile, as it depicts the current hot-topic of Zelda Wii, which people are interested in greatly. 8. This image is fantastic. Not only is the the image high quality, but it also raises questions. Who is the female/male behind him (note that the hair may look like a female, but I don't see anything on the chest :P)? Where are they going (note the background eerily looks like a cavern entrance that has blown up with fire coming out)? Is this a Twilight Princess Link or an Ocarina of Time Link in Twilight Princess style? What will the game be called (examples: Spirit of Time, Blade of Bane, etc. ...)? Just so many questions that can come from image. Anyways before I rant on... *places vote* - AtrumLevis  (My Talk Page) (My Contributions) 12:44, 2 July 2009 (UTC).

I'm not going to vote for this yet. It's a great image, superb size and quality, but judging by the title being simply "The Legend of Zelda" I can tell this isn't the final artwork. If there is, for all we know it will be even more epic than this, so I'm going to hold off just a bit longer and see what happens. Though, judging by this it will be featured within little time.Steve 05:37, 7 June 2009 (UTC)Vote withdrawn by user.

Death Sword (September 27, 2009)

Death Sword

NEW VERSION
OLD VERSION

I'm trying this again. Mostly because the image was updated since last time. I did some research. The votes against the old one were unfounded. Screen brightness has nothing to do with it. The real problem with the old in one was the loss of the glow and some color information in Death Sword itself. This new version is exactly the same except the darkest parts of the background are transparent. The new version is just a vibrant as the other. Except that is new really easy to see regardless of the screen brightness, unlike the old versions. This version is also huge. Actually bigger than the old one that is currently featured.Emma (Talk) 00:21, January 20, 2009 (UTC)

  2. The newer image is a lot better and actually better fits the Wiki page. As for the monster itself, it was the most amazing of all the mini bosses with it's ghostly wail and it's dark sword. Makes me wonder what it was and why exactly it was sealed. - AtrumLevis  (My Talk Page) (My Contributions) 18:35, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

  4. Some may recall that I opposed this suggested replacement back in October last year, when it was first proposed. I think, based on the level of support this already has, it makes little sense to hold this back over such a small change as the background colour. Also, with Matt's recent addition of the "imageback" option (which I've now also added to the boss template), we could potentially simply overlay the image on a black background to recreate the original effect if desired. 1. I don't know how we stand on personal opinion when it comes to New Images Vs Old, but I'll take a risk. All I can say is the background of the old one is half the reason I like it. • I don't want to make anyone upset or complain too much (it is because of that I didn't write this as an opposion) but once again, this is just the same picture with a swap of backgroundcolor. The same thing applies on the picture of Faron that became the new featured picture. --Olle93 23:09, 1 February, 2009 (UTC)
Change of back ground color can make a world of difference but, this image had more then just a "back ground color swap". For one, the old image was slightly cut-off (this one isn't), and the new version is larger, not to mention easier to see :)Mandi Talk 04:28, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Well, on my computer the new version isn't larger, it actually seems a bit smaller than the new one, but maybe that's something that's just wrong with my computer... Anyway, I kinda think that the old backgroundcolor was better for a "dark" monster like death sword. --Olle93 18:15, 3 February, 2009 (UTC)

  • I can't oppose it according to the rules, but I definitely appreciate the original image more. As other users have stated, the black background adds to the ghostly feel, which is why the image probably became featured in the first place. Don't get me wrong- the new image looks great, and is done very nicely. However, it seems to pale in comparison. Just eep in mind that not all images look their best when transparent. Spirit Tracks Art (November 18, 2009)
ST Key Artwork 2.png

When the European box art for Spirit Tracks was unveiled I, and most others, became really jealous of theirs. The cover is very depthful, and even sparking some controversy that Zelda is a spirit due to her paleness, as well as the mysterious tower in the landscape. As for the image itself, it's fairly large, and has very good quality. I'm especially intrigued by the border it was given, which really completes the piece.Steve 23:53, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

It originally had such an epic feeling, compared to the grainy, side-scrolling quest that today's fans envision when the term "Adventure of Link". It honestly makes me miss those days back then, but I'm glad we have this art around to help remind us of the joy. Plus, it's a nice-sized picture and is pretty high-quality. Alter  {T C B H } 04:22, July 17, 2010 (UTC)
  3. This is a great image, and it's one of the few pieces of official art to feature Dark Link, and it's definitely the best. I'm more intrigued by the fact that they each have the Master Sword, but I know this art was made when ALttP was released. Noble Wrot 22:51, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
  4. Considering the age of this image, the quality is pretty good. It's about the best version of it that I've seen, and as an NES-generation Zelda fan, I've eagerly hunted down images of the old games ever since I started visiting Zelda sites. It would be nice to see an AoL image featured, considering it's probably one of the least-played of all of the Zelda games. The scene itself is great, anyone who's actually gone through that final battle (one of the hardest moments of any Zelda game ever in my opinion!) will appreciate the tension that is depicted. Shona 22:41, 17 September 2010 (EDT)
  5. I like this image a lot. It has that retro classic look that's hard to resist. It's also pretty decent quality. I say go for it.Mandi Talk 21:05, November 17, 2010 (UTC)
  6. Hands down, the most frustrating battle in Zelda history (if you didn't cheat). For a cartoony image, the quality is sharp. While it may be on the lower end of the spectrum, size-wise, the heightened sense of urgency depicted in this well-drawn work pays homage nicely to the amount of thumb strain and late nights spent attempting to defeat the Dark Link of The Adventure of Link. User:Cipriano 119/sig 21:22, 25 November 2010 (EST)
  7. Yeah, this is a pretty good image (although I don't get what the deal with the crumpled-up old geezer in the corner is :-S ). Also it'd be nice to boost the number of pre-OoT featured pictures, from the current measly two! Adam [ talk ] 17:18, 30 December 2010 (EST)
  8. I personally like Adventure of Link and this pic has great artwork. A picture of Link vs. Dark Link should automatically be nominated 70 times, but one that was made before ocarina of time should be nominated 80 times. I like oot mor than aol(not america online) and the artwork is better, but I still like this epic pic! "Link4569 16:24, 11 January 2011 (EST)"
  9. Very nicely done piece of work. It's very different from anything we currently have featured, and the more varied the better, I say! Really defines the feeling you get after getting through the ridiculously hard game, only to have to fight the ridiculously hard final boss. Rambo Zelda 12:10, 13 January 2011 (EST)
  10. I agree that this is a very good image. It shows Link's good and "evil" side. It would be a great featured picture. Danton12396 20:47, 23 January 2011 (EST)

  1. I normally wouldn't say anything about this picture, but due to the near unanimous decision to feature it (needing only one more vote to seal the deal at this point), I feel like the opposition should at least have a voice and should be considered before moving on. I do not like this image. Most of it has to do with the fact that I'm a rather "new-school" Zelda fan. For that reason, I just can't appreciate the art style or anything concerning AoL, really. Where others might see a representation of an epic and tense battle scene I see a goofy cartoon image that I just cannot take seriously. For "old-school" fans this picture may bring back memories and pleasant feelings of nostalgia, but being of the newer generation I just don't feel anything. I respect that many people appreciate this image (and in a lot of senses, it should be featured), but it's just not something I myself am capable of appreciating, and I think I speak for a lot of newer Zelda fans when I say so. — Hylian King [*] 16:55, 13 January 2011 (EST)

  1. I don't really like the style that much, so I will stay neutral on this one. However, it does capture the tense battle that Link has with...well himself, so that's a plus. I'm not opposed or supportive of it, but it's alright. UnderdogAsh 13:39, 29 December 2010 (EST)

  4. I was uneasy over the original version of the image. It was blurry, had visible compression artifacts, looked like it had resize pixelation, and didn't have Navi as was in the official artwork. So I went and fixed that and now that I've replaced it with a much better version that has sharper details, better colors, absolutely no jpg compression artifacts, better resolution and size, and has Navi, it's great! Link VS. Ganon(dorf) (November 25, 2011)
Artwork of the battle between Link and Ganondorf

An accurate and dazzling depiction of what is perhaps one of the most iconic and epic battles in the Legend of Zelda series, this image truly exhibits the extent of Ganon(dorf)'s awe-inspiring, god-given power and might as well as the ferocity of the battle between Good and Evil, Courage and Power. The size of the image is decent great and the quality is excellent. 4. I'll echo Hylian King's sentiments, here. All the figurine images are spectacular, but this one, with its gradient colors, really reflects the "eye candy" art style of The Wind Waker. I would love for it to be on the front page for more people to enjoy. Embyr 75  --Talk-- 19:03, 5 September 2011 (EDT)
  5. I really enjoy the colors in this picture and I could stare at it for hours I thnk it deserves to be featured Sammoldy 03:02, 10 November 2011 (EST)
  6. This image is exploding with life. The 8 pairs of arms give the piece some motion and complexity which is offset by the simple colors and beautiful lighting. If you've ever collected figurines in The Wind Waker, you'll find that many of them feel dead and unrewarding. However, this piece is worth the effort required to obtain it. — Abdullah [T] [C] [S]  18:54, 15 December 2011 (EST)
  7. Great image; I've always liked the design of the Great Fairies from The Wind Waker best out of all the games. Excellent transparency by Josh and re-touching by Abdullah; thanks guys! Adam [ talk ] 03:05, 29 February 2012 (EST)
  8. This is a nice image. Very large and detailed, and it perfectly depicts the four Great Fairies. Besides, much like Adam said, I like these fairies a LOT better than those creepy OoT and MM ones.User:Justin ZW/sig 21:37, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Link Resting (December 23, 2012)
  • Final Score: 5
Official artwork from the remake of A Link to the Past

A high quality image of Link taking a break under a tree. It has great, vibrant colors and, even though it could do without the logo at the top, that doesn't take away from this not too well-known artwork from the A Link to the Past remake. --Dany36 17:53, 12 July 2012 (EDT)

  1. The image is crisp and clear with vivid colors. This picture is pleasant to look at. --P1won 18:05, 8 August 2012 (EDT)
  2. I like this one; it's a great quality image, and the style's quite different from anything else we've featured so far. Adam [ talk ] 10:40, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
  3. I don't think I've seen this anywhere else on the net, and that's a bit of a disappointment. The image has nice colors and styling, and is high quality to boot. — Abdullah [T] [C] [S]  16:06, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
  4. Wow, wow, wow, this is really good artwork. There's not a whole lot going on, and that's a good thing. Through its simplicity, it stands as a very relaxing image, with smooth yet vibrant colors. It makes me feel like laying down in the grass and taking a nap myself. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 16:18, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
  5. Wow, everyone else pretty much already stated what I was going to say. It's not a popular image, the colors are vivid and the details are sharp, and it's a simple image. It's also large and, as stated before, the image is smooth and the colors simple and natural. —Darkness(Talk) 00:21, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Zelda and her Loftwing (March 13, 2013)
  • Final Score: 5
Official artwork of Zelda and her Loftwing from Skyward Sword

I really like this image for multiple reasons: for starters, it's incredibly high quality and is a very nice piece of artwork. Another main reason is that this is one picture of Zelda which shows her to be "just another person." She's always been royalty and had great importance, and as such she's always carried an air of elegance. Here, Zelda does not know she's the Goddess reborn, and is therefore...well, humanized. It's a great image of Zelda, and I think it could definitely be a great image to feature.User:Justin ZW/sig 21:29, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

  1. Amazing quality. Beautiful colors. Great artwork. This artwork has every reason to feature it, and no reasons not to. My vote goes with this image, definitely. And did I mention it's a large image which preserves quality as it's magnified? You can really see the detail. —Darkness(Talk) 21:42, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
  2. The picture itself is amazing. The colors, the quality are all nice and show the feeling between zelda and her loftwing. It is a piece of artwork that must be featured. Fi123 03:58, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
  3. I've just noticed that Zelda herself does not take center stage in any of our featured pictures. About time this was fixed, I think. Not only that, but this is probably the best of the Skyward Sword artwork, the colouring is outstanding. Fizzle (talk) 10:42, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
  4. In addition to what Fizzle said, this would be our first real Skyward Sword feature. The image itself is absolutely stunning, with an amazing blend of color and style. Her outfit is pretty dang cute, and that Loftwing looks majestic. I'm not a fan of the colors fading slightly at the feet, but that's just me being picky. — Abdullah [T] [C] [S]  11:01, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
  5. We don't have any Featured Pictures of Zelda OR Skyward Sword yet, and this picture is possibly the best we have of both. — Hylian King [*] 19:20, 3 March 2013 (UTC)

Fantastic artwork which does quite a nice job of showcasing the upgraded graphics. I particularly like the way that Ganondorf is imposed in the background, as well. Quite simply... this image is something I would be proud to show on the front page.User:Justin ZW/sig 12:00, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

  1. Gorgeous artwork, nice shiny cell-shading. Very nice macrocosm of the game. Is this how I vote? DEKU TREE SPROUT 15:11, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
  2. Now this is an image worth featuring. The artwork is amazing, and manages to depict the graphics of the remake while still retaining the feel of the original. Dannyboy601Talk 16:18, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
  3. This supersedes a current Featured Image (File:WW Scene.jpg), that alone is ample reason to feature it, beauty and general awesomeness aside. The old version will have to be removed, of course. — Hylian King [*] 21:25, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
  4. Nice picture. It grasps the beauty of the game. You have my approval. Ankazar 01:28, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
  5. Beautiful picture! The shading in the art itself is amazing along with the vibrant colors used to portray the lively atmosphere of the artwork. It includes nearly every notable The Wind Waker character in a beautiful ensemble. Onto the file itself, it's large as well as crisp, the colors just as vibrant as on the original with little blur at all. Great artwork! —Darkness(Talk) 02:29, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
  6. I love love love this image. While colors, crispness, and overall composition of the picture are great, what I really love about it are the details the artist added. I love the compasses, Big Octo, and other things etched into the globe-shaped map, and how they're juxtaposed against the 3D Tower of the Gods, Great Fairy isle, and Windfall. It's great. (Also, I would LOVE to see Valoo and the Helmaroc King really go at it like that!!) Embyr 75  --Talk-- 17:00, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
  7. This is a great update to a specific piece of artwork made for The Wind Waker on the GameCube. That artwork was used as a cover for the soundtrack and a couple strategy guides. I would say the original artwork was worthy of being featured, but this version has a lot more going on it, in a good way. It encompasses the feeling of adventure that the game is known for.
