The Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an upcoming game in The Legend of Zelda series for the Nintendo Switch, and a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild. It is confirmed to be in development presently, but has no release date.

The Template:StBotW was announced during the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct.[2] The idea of creating a direct sequel came from the fact that Eiji Aonuma, producer of Breath of the Wild, wanted to revisit the same Hyrule while incorporating a new story and gameplay mechanics.[1] 

From announcements made by Nintendo, we know that they've been developing it since early 2018

When asked about cooperative gameplay or Zelda being a playable character, Aonuma commented that he cannot tell.[3]
