Ganondorf

Can we say for sure it is Ganondorf? I'm 99.99999....% sure he is it, but on the other side i would have said the same for The Demon Train of Spirit tracks after the first trailers... --User:Soran (talk) 00:58, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Now that you mention that, I don't think we have a reference that it's Ganondorf. I'll go ask some others to see if we can pull any sources up and if not we can remove it. Thanks for the notice! β€” 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐒𝐜𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝟏𝟎𝟎𝟎 (𝐭𝐚π₯𝐀) 01:40, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
did you found something or can we change it? I looked too and didnt found anything that isnt speculation --User:Soran (talk) 20:50, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This was discussed in further detail on the Discord, but to summarize: there is every sign that this is Ganondorf to such a degree that it isn't speculative to claim that this person is the one and only. TriforceTony (talk) 00:51, 6 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It's Ganondorf all right. But only because of his title in his boss fight. HyruleH (talk) 11:29, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This conversation was back from when Tears of the Kingdom didn't even have a name, and we didn't know if it actually was Ganondorf or not. We all know that it's obviously Ganondorf now that the game is out haha β€” 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐒𝐜𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝟏𝟎𝟎𝟎 (𝐭𝐚π₯𝐀) 15:09, 8 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Capitalization

Is there any reason for Sequel to be capitalized? Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a placeholder name, not a title, and it's not capitalized in the trailer. CasualSunGod42 (talk) 19:42, 16 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well, it isn't being treated as a title, since "Sequel" isn't italicized on the page or our templates. But for now, "Sequel to Breath of the Wild" is a term as far the wiki's operation goes. You are correct that the word "Sequel" ought to not be capitalized, and it wouldn't be, if "The" were part of the term. And "The" is not part of the term because it's not an actual title.
I know, it's kind of a circular reasoning, but it is based on our established policies. Hopefully soon, we'll get a proper title and won't need to worry about it anymore. Htwretched (talk) 22:13, 16 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Just in case it wasn't clear, I was referring to name use in pages, not in titles. For example, I think the main description of the game's page should read "The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an upcoming game..." rather than "The Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an upcoming game..." However, I was concerned that this would go against wiki policy since I couldn't find anything on placeholder game titles. Thanks for your help! CasualSunGod42 (talk) 13:37, 17 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for clarifying, and I agree with that example of the main description. One thing I've learned in my short time on staff here is that the folks in charge take standardized formatting very seriously (so if it hadn't already been discussed, it would be, since you brought it up), and this case happens to fall into capitalizing the "Sequel". It's also unique in that I don't believe we've had any placeholder titles before that weren't speculative, like "Zelda Wii U" from 2012 to 2016. Under Hyrule Castle

There doesn’t actually seem to be any evidence that the underground sequence actually takes place under the castle. There are several instances of events in the previous game affecting distant locations (activation of the towers for instance) and trailers sometimes show unrelated events together as well. β€”Preceding unsigned comment added by DogsRNice 05:31, March 18, 2021 (UTC)

It's more implied as BotW states that Ganon was sealed underneath Hyrule Castle 10 thousand years ago.

Furthermore, with the presence of Ganondorf, it's no longer clear what connection Calamity Ganon has with him, or whether the statement refers to Ganondorf himself, and the Calamity that Link defeated slipped through the cracks, or to just the Calamity; and Ganondorf was sealed elsewhere.

For now, it's more likely, based on the aforementioned "sealed under the castle" statement, that Ganondorf's cave is underneath Hyrule Castle, but exact knowledge will have to wait until release.

DogsRNice is correct in that we don't actually have any evidence beyond general speculation that underneath Hyrule Castle is where this actually takes place. I've gone ahead and removed the statement, and unless we have a source confirming that this is where the ruins are located, we shouldn't have it there. β€” 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐒𝐜𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝟏𝟎𝟎𝟎 (𝐭𝐚π₯𝐀) 18:10, 13 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes we do: game. HyruleH (talk) 11:31, 19 June 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Downloadable Content

While the website states "Full version of game required to use DLC for that game. Sold separately." in the footnotes, it nowhere confirms the DLC for the game in any capacity. The footnote is used for the sentence: "Plus, earn My Nintendo Gold Points you can use toward more games and DLC.", which is just a general statement on the games available on the Switch and not specific to Tears of the Kingdom. The section on the DLC is quite speculative and shouldn't be on the wiki without more evidence.

I honestly don't even know why game journalists thought it was a good idea to even write about it. Ltlpwl (talk) 01:44, 21 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Story

I deleted most of what is written in the story section as it just details the trailers and is no longer relevant to the game's story. HyruleH (talk) 21:31, 13 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's better to keep that until we're ready to rewrite it. I've added it back in and included the Update template. TriforceTony (talk) 00:43, 14 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Finish Up

We seriously need to finish this page everyone. It's been almost two months since the game released. HyruleH (talk) 15:05, 5 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

How do you propose to finish it? What does it need and how do we get it on the page? TriforceTony (talk) 17:24, 5 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Both the Gameplay and Story sections need to be completed. On a related side note, a lot of the other articles regarding the game are either incomplete or missing pictures. HyruleH (talk) 14:43, 8 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, you're free to edit the page. If you want to help add content to the page, I suggest helping other editors on our Discord server. β€” 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐒𝐜𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝟏𝟎𝟎𝟎 (𝐭𝐚π₯𝐀) 15:09, 8 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It's obvious that content is missing because this is already noted on the page, so we don't need to discuss that fact. What specific information do you think needs to be introduced to those sections? It helps to fill things out if you go in with a plan. TriforceTony (talk) 10:10, 10 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
