Butterfly are recurring Animals in The Legend of Zelda series.[1]
Characteristics
Link's Awakening
In Link's Awakening, Butterflies follow Link.
The Minish Cap
Joy Butterflies appear in The Minish Cap after Fusing Kinstone Pieces with Farore, Nayru, or Din. They can be found in Castor Wilds, the Royal Valley, and the Wind Ruins. Catching a Joy Butterfly will increase Link's speed while digging,[2] swimming,[3] or shooting Arrows,[4]
Twilight Princess
Skyward Sword
Tri Force Heroes
In Tri Force Heroes, the Fabled Butterfly is a Material used for crafting the Sword Master Suit. It is the rarest Material from the Sky Realm, and can only be collected by completing all of the realm's Drablands Challenges, or won at random in the Coliseum.
The first volume of the Drablands Diary describes the author's hardships from adventuring into the Woodlands, mentioning that the sight of a delicate Butterfly gave him the determination to survive. This text alludes to the single, bright green Butterfly that is hidden in each Level of the Woodlands. However, there is no significance to finding this Butterfly.
