Selecting a Level

Levels are the locations within the Drablands where the majority of Link's adventures take place in Tri Force Heroes. The first eight Areas of the Drablands contain four Levels each, for a total of 32. When the Links gather on a Triforce Gateway inside Hytopia Castle, they are presented with the Level Selection screen where they first select an Area, then the Level they wish to attempt to clear. The trio of heroes are then warped to that Level by the Triforce Gateway.

Levels are divided into four segments called Stages, each with their own set of Enemies, traps, and puzzles for the Links to overcome in order to reach the Triforce Gateway and warp to the next Stage. The first Stage of each Level typically places the Links at, or near, a set of three Items that they can pick up and make use of for the entire Level. The second and fourth Stages of each Level usually feature encounters with multiple Enemies, where they must all be defeated in order to proceed. After completing the fourth Stage, the Links are transported to a room containing three Treasure Chests; inside are the Materials that are their rewards for completing the Level. Their collected Rupees are then tallied and added to each Link's total; if any Link used the Camera to take a Photo, it will be briefly displayed; each player's progress is saved, and the Links are returned to Hytopia Castle. Should the Links lose all of their Fairies and fail to complete the Level, then the same process occurs, but no Materials are gained.

The four Levels for each Area can be attempted in any order, and previously-completed Levels can be replayed at will, either to earn more of the Materials specific to that Level, to attempt to complete it with a new set of players, or simply for fun. The second and fourth Levels of each Area conclude with a battle against the Area's Mini-Boss and Boss, respectively, in the fourth Stage. Only the fourth Level, which is usually a type of Temple, needs to be completed in order to unlock the subsequent Area. Once it has been completed, then all of the Levels of that Area can be replayed with three additional and optional Drablands Challenges, which increase the Levels' difficulty by adding restrictions or new arrangements of Enemies, but also offer different types of Materials as reward.

The Den of Trials, which is the ninth Area added in the Ver. 2.0.0 update, is also designated as the sole Level within that Area. However, the various Zones of the Den of Trials are more akin to Levels, as they each contain four Stages (beginning with a selection of Items), followed by a Treasure Chest room where the players' progress is saved.

Other Appearances

Link's Crossbow Training

In Link's Crossbow Training, every Level contains three Stages that take place in a different part of Hyrule.[2] In each Stage, Link has to either shoot Targets, defeat advancing Enemies, or travel through a location defeating a number of Enemies. In every stage, every Target or Enemy can be shot to gain a certain amount of points.[3] At the end of the Level, all of the obtained points from each of the three Stages are tallied up.[4] If Link obtained 20,000 points or more, he earns a Bronze Medal; he earns a Silver Medal for 40,000 or more points; he earns a Gold Medal for 60,000 or more points; he earns a Carlov Medal for 80,000 or more points. There are nine Levels in total, respectively named Levels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and Final. The first three Levels are unlocked from the start of the game, but every other Level must be unlocked by obtaining at least a Bronze Medal on the previous Level.[5]
