Name

Dude, you seriously have one of the coolest names ever, but I've been curious. How exactly do you pronounce it? :P --Ando (T) 19:28, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hehe, thanks. It's an Armenian name. Correct pronunciation would be something like... is Ma-seees Mases 23:58, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi, I'm armenian too. When I saw your name on the online list i immediatly had to see your page. XD Do you know if anyone else in this wiki is armenian? -- կրակ (խոսել) -- 08:08, 17 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Parev, Eench Besis? Unfortunately, no, I do not know any Armenians at the Zelda Wiki, or in the Zelda community at all. Well, now I know one of them. :) Welcome and hope you like it here at ZW. Mases 15:13, 18 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Parev, yes lauve em. (Doesn't know how to read armenian so I probably spelled that wrong.) Sorry I never learned how to read and write in armenian. Are you from armenia or second gen etc. I'm from armenia but I left with my family when I was like two. =P -- կրակ (խոսել) -- 01:01, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Votes

Yo, dude, only one vote on the Featured Content Disqualification page allowed per month (one vote against an article and one vote against a picture, that is). Sorry. :/ --Ando 20:41, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ya, I misread that, then I fixed it, and then saw you sent me a message. Thanks anyway. Mases 20:43, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Featured Content Disqualification

Hi, just a quick request. Please would you consider visiting Zelda Wiki:Featured Content Disqualification and placing a vote for an article and/or picture to be disqualified next (if you haven't already done so this month)? While it may seem quite a negative process, it's vital to the continued running of the Featured Content system that valued, active members such as yourself offer an opinion here in order to make way for new content being nominated. Thanks for your assistance! --Adam 18:48, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Images Uploaded

I wasn't going to say anything at first, but it is bugging me. In a lot of these images you're uploading you say "cropped by Zelda Dungeon". I'm sorry to say but you are using that term incorrectly. Cropped means cutting out a portion of an image and making it into its own image. All that was done to those images was resizing. Cropping an image isn't even close to resizing. You might want to go through those images and correct that.Emma (Talk) 16:09, June 30, 2008 (UTC)

Cropped meaning, getting rid of the white background, making them PNG files and resizing. Almost all the images that were replaced used to have those ugly white backgrounds, which looked terrible on the blue background. I also figured that it is best to be using images that were worked on by members of the wiki or some of the supporting sites. I also went through and replaced all those Twilight Princess items images that used to be from Zelda Elements. Instead, I've replaced them with Zelda Universe items images from their revamp. It's best to have supporting site images rather than random sites. I sourced the lost woods since that was the original location of the files. Some of the files were edited when placed on Game Hiker. Then I edited them once again when I placed them at Zelda Dungeon. I think that warrants citing all three sites as sources. Mases 18:31, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I never said it was wrong to put all the sources. That is a good thing. Removing the background, resizing, and making into png does not fit under the description "cropped". Removing the background might fit under "cropped", but that is stretching it. All the photo-editing software uses the term to describe the process of selecting a rectangular portion of the image and deleting the rest. Cropping is a quick action. Removing of a background is a lengthy process that takes a great deal of time and should not be referred to as "cropping". It would cause too much confusion. Instead use the term "rendered". That term is more inclusive of background removal, making into a better format, resizing, etc.Emma (Talk) 18:46, June 30, 2008 (UTC)

Is there any reason why you always make the links to images before you upload them instead of after? I'm just curious.Emma (Talk) 05:55, November 22, 2008 (UTC)

I just think it's easier since I don't have to upload the file and then match the url for the image. Instead I rename the image, and it shows it as missing. Then I can just click the image and upload it there. In general though lately, in the last few days, I've been uploading images for every Oracle of Ages enemy in the game. I just recently worked with a staff member at the site to put together an enemy guide at my site and I went through the game and capture sprite images and also made sprites that were 3x the size of the actual sprites. This makes for better appearance. I've been replacing all the Oracle of Ages enemy images, since all of them were not sourced, sourced from non-Zelda Wiki supporters, or had ugly background colors and weren't transparent. So ya, I've sorta slapped it together, occasionally adding to the descriptions, and in the future I'm sure others will piece the pages together a better than I have. Mases 05:59, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Zelda Dungeon Problem

On your site, on the fan games page, there is a bad link. The full game link for The Legend of Zelda: The Fallen Sage is no good. The EatLime download doesn't work. UndyingNephalim has provided a working download here. You might want to update that. On a Google search for "The Fallen Sage" download, your site's link is the ninth one down and, along with Zelda Palace, are the only ones that isn't a forum topic and that actually has a download link. This was the best way I could think of to tell you.Emma (Talk) 07:45, July 8, 2008 (UTC)

How exactly are you getting to the fan games page? That page is no longer linked to by anything at all. If something from the Wiki is linking to it, that link should be deleted. With the recent layout shift and the Alliance addition, several of these fan sections, this page included were dumped. I haven't deleted the actual page, just in case there is something I use them for in the future, but it's no longer supposed to be an actual page at ZD that people can get to.
I believe I just told you how I was getting to it. Through Google Search.Emma (Talk) 17:07, July 8, 2008 (UTC)
And the page about that game here link to it too.Emma (Talk) 17:09, July 8, 2008 (UTC)
Yikes, ummm, I wouldn't link to it from the Wiki. Might as well change the link on my site then. Better than having a broken link. That page should get phased out of google eventually since nothing links to it. Mases 17:13, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks

I just noticed that you have done several changes and made an anouncement. For that I will say thank you. But I just can't help but get the feeling you're mad. Even the new announcement about image crediting seems a little aggressive. Maybe it's just me, but you seem to come over as an angry person to me :| --Seablue254 12:14, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Actually, Jason made the changes. Mases made that image announcement.Emma (Talk) 14:34, July 9, 2008 (UTC)
Ya, I believe Jason and Ando made the changes. I brought up the idea of allowing sysops to have access to the ftp since it only made sense. I'm here relatively often just checking things out but I only ever make minor changes. Jason shows up every 3-4 weeks, makes big changes, and disappears again. The other 6 supporting site webmasters don't even come here at all really. So it only made sense for sysops to have access so they can improve it right away rather than have to wait for one of us.
As for the image policy, I feel aggressive about it since I'm still not entirely happy about it, but I'm willing to work with it. I don't like that any image at any of the supporting sites suddenly becomes distributable under the GNU policy because our sites support the wiki. Meaning, I can put a image up on Zelda Dungeon, then somebody can upload it to Zelda Wiki and source ZD, and then anybody can use it on their site without even crediting it to me originally. Seems ridiculous to me. Although I've accepted that people don't care about sourcing images properly, so I'm just going to be using the flawed policy to my advantage as well to improve my site with images from other supporting sites.
Other than anything related to the image policy, I don't think I come across as aggressive or mad. If I do, then that's not meant to be on purpose. I take my site very serious as it really is a big part of my everyday life. Heck I spend a good 4-5 hours a day actually working on something for the site. I'd be willing to bet that I've spent more time on my site than any Zelda webmaster on the net has for their own. So while some people might be laid back and more casual when it comes to their online experience. I'm very serious about my website and my work. I guess that translates to how I handle myself on a day to day basis on the net. Mases 16:44, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
For all I know, it could be me. However, Jason will NEVER allow anyone but himself to get into the ftp. I tried to access it, yet of course wouldn't upload/download anything and told him. Apparantly it's a bannable offense. Yay. Also, he has a saying. "It's my site, and my ftp". So don't expect to be given any ftp anytime soon. --Seablue254 13:51, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I have FTP access already... What don't you understand? Mases 14:41, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Perhaps a demonstration screenshot is in order?Emma (Talk) 15:10, July 10, 2008 (UTC)

Heck, I have FTP access. The Zelda Universe FTP he'd never give out to any of us, but since we actually work here, he gives it to us if he deems us worthy. :P —Ando (talk) 16:05, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Also, I didn't actually make any of the changes. I was getting ready to only to turn around and see that Jason had already done it. So whatever!Reply[reply]

The part I don't get, is that he'll say that he'll give no one access to HIS FTP, yet the next thing I see, is 3 people now have it. Seablue 15:58, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Jason's FTP = The Zelda Universe FTP. Zelda Wiki staff only have access to the Zelda Wiki FTP. —Ando (talk) 18:57, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Age

Turned twenty-two eh? So was the recently? Or did you just not update it in a while?Emma (Talk) 06:49, November 22, 2008 (UTC)

October 11, so just over a month ago. I just never got around to edit it. As usual with the Wiki, I usually work on something for a few days, then disappear for a few weeks. The last 'disappearance' was just a little bit longer, so I never got around to editing my own user page. Wanted to add that I updated all the Oracle of Ages enemies, so I thought I'd skim through and make some minor changes. Thanks for noticing such minor details. :) Mases 07:24, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Deleting Images

Make sure not to delete those hylian letters in the end of the unused files list. They are still called by template scripts.Emma (Talk) 07:12, November 27, 2008 (UTC)

Sure thing, I'm mainly just deleting images that are of really low quality. Also the ones that are plain white background images that have since been made transparent. Also, sprite images that are no longer in use. As well as images from signitures and websites that aren't being used. Mases 07:13, 27 November 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Umm.... We've been meaning to tell you this. We (Ando and myself) think that you're a bit too enthusiastic about deleting unused images. I'm sure that Adam thinks this way too because he obviously took measures to prevent you from deleting certain images. The idea we're getting is that you believe an unused image is unacceptable. You've shown that you rush through deleting them and don't look at the upload dates. You deleted images a day or so after they were uploaded. My suggestion is to slow down when going through the images. If that is too much then just leave it to us instead.Emma (Talk) 19:11, February 18, 2009 (UTC)
Usually I delete images after I've just replaced an image. However, your right, I do usually take a look at other unused images and delete some of them. Usually because they are unsourced and unused at the current point in time. Nevertheless, I won't delete any images anymore that have been just uploaded within say... 1 month. Mases 20:05, 18 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Tip

Hey Mases, you do know about Special:MultipleUpload, right? Just thought it could save you a little time ;P Adam [ talk ] 18:43, 4 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hmm, perhaps that could be of use. Although I think the way I do it is pretty good to begin with. Just have several tabs open with all the things that I need to copy/paste. Has worked well, between yesterday and today that's probably close to 200 images I've changed in like an hour. Mases 18:44, 4 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
What is with all the GIF pics? I thought we agreed that PNG is better in every single way. GIF will mess up transparencies.Emma (Talk) 18:16, January 5, 2009 (UTC)
I'm replacing a lot of unsourced images with sourced images. A lot of small game models or sprites at my site are Gif images. We haven't exactly made that switch over yet, but it's something we are starting to do. Mases 18:17, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Image Replacement

I've noticed that you have been replacing official artwork images with some of your own, such as completely overwriting the official artwork of Ingo with another. I honestly don't see a need for these replacements, as it's easy enough just to add a new picture every time. Why do you have to do these unneeded replacements? You can just upload a new image normally instead of overwriting another. Sorry, but this is starting to really tick me off. The Goron Moron 09:06, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey there. The images aren't mine actually. They are credited to Xeno, he's a guy from Zelda Universe. Also, I accidentally replaced the Ingo artwork when uploading. I just duplicated the file name when multiple uploading and it replaced. I contacted Steve about the situation, because he originally created the official artwork. He said it was okay since the model was better, but actually, for this case, I think the official artwork would be better for the top portion of the page, while the game model is perfect in the gallery. I'd like to make it clear that my intention was NOT to replace official artwork, and that the Ingo one was a mistake. Mases 15:14, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well alright. I'm sorry for getting angry. But I would really appreciate it that the official artwork is reuploaded. The Goron Moron 22:32, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

MM Gallery Project

So are you asking if I'd like to help with making the MM page too? As in, create the page using those images like the PH and LoZ pages? I wasn't entirely sure what you meant in your message. Thank though fore the tips, I was sure that I saw a multiple upload option somewhere but I couldn't find it, which was a pain. Also again, thanks for the tip on adding codes too, I realize it probably looked spammy on the recent changes page. But yeah, can you clear up what you mean? I'd be happy to make or help the MM enemy gallery if that was what you were asking. GKANG 00:14, 5 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well hey sure, I can get to it right now. So long as you're happy with how the Phantom Hourglass gallery looks, I can do the same same. I'll keep in mind the tips you gave me also, to try and cut down on the recent changes overload. GKANG 14:51, 5 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm kind of unsure how I was supposed to add the citing codes to the uploads. When I put the code { {c-nintendo} } { {FoundImageZD|the url|Zelda Dungeon} } in the summary box, on the image page it had both "template: ....." things in red :/. What did I do wrong? I'm weary of adding more images if I'm doing it wrong. GKANG 15:13, 5 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Haha, so sorry. I made two dumb mistakes. I put "..c_nin.." instead of "..c-nin.." and i put "ImageFound" instead of "FoundImageZD". I fixed those first 5 pictures, then I finished the Enemies in Majora's Mask. I hope it's okay (: I also made a User:ZU template, since there was a neat ZD one haha. GKANG 18:37, 5 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Just so you know, I was gonna help out on the OoX galleries, but I was confused by your listing on ZD. I wasn't sure if Seasons had enemies from both games, or if it just had more enemies. But nice, you got that done anyway. Looking good (: ~ GKANG (Ta Co Zu) 04:12, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks, I've been looking for something to do. You say the figurines for MC are already uploaded? I'll check the filename for a couple, then hope the image names are consistent (unlike some images people uploaded for PH :/). Also, I'd assume I'll have to strip out playable characters and non-hostile NPC's in the trophy list, then alphabetize as apposed to have them in trophy order. As for the other games, I was thinking maybe since they're various sizes, we could use the gallery code as apposed to the codes we've been using this far. I'm talking about the codes used for Enemies in Twilight Princess and Enemies in The Wind Waker. It would be nice to recreate all of the games this way in my opinion at some point, perhaps when we have consistent images for all of the games, and at least a temp done for them too. Also, this may be a while away, but I've been meaning to set up a capture device for my Wii for a long time, and record gameplay footage and guides. However, once I get it, I can redo all of the TP and WW images, in a much more consistent fashion (much like your MM images). They're a little messy right now, since it's hard to get clean images from 3D games. Lastly, I was going to collect images from FS, but then I realized it's multiplayer only, so it's hard. Perhaps when I get my capture device though, I can collect images from FSA if I buy it. I current have WW, TP, ALttP and LoZ available on my Wii, so I should be able to help in some way when that all goes to plan. ~ GKANG (Ta Co Zu) 08:38, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

EDIT: There may be some figurines that aren't uploaded, and I know of at least one. I'm not sure about how you resized them, so it'd be nice to sort it out if you come on messenger. ~ GKANG (Ta Co Zu) 09:46, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
