Here's something I found out when making this: When using #switch or #ifeq, the variable being called must have a pipe (or |) in it to work properly. Like this:

{{#ifeq:{{{1|}}}|{{Void}}|{{Void}}|{{{1}}}}}

If you don't put that in, it won't work right. So always remember that the variable(value with three curly brackets on each side) that is right after the colon must have a pipe after the number.
When I tried going without the pipes in the Archives template, it would show every single possible link for an option, even if those fields were blank. So make sure that you guys remember the pipes when you make these kind of scripts.Emma ^(Talk) 18:38, July 1, 2008 (UTC)

Merging Topics

I think some pages have gotten a little unnecessary as there is little information on them. They should be merged with similar pages. For example, the Helmasaur and the Helmasaurus pages are separate pages. Featured Content Sections

I was thinking about something. I seems that Seablue254 was thinking along the same lines. We don't need the edit section tags near the support and oppose things do we? But it would be nice to keep them by the others. Do the support and oppose templates have to make section headings? We should go into the templates and remove them. Redirecting Templates

Remember me saying that if a template that is a redirect it will still function? Well I just came up with a practical application of this feature. The featured content templates, the ones that are summaries of a featured article or image, are all doubled. Instead of having two identical ones for each, we can just make the second one a redirect. This way, only one needs to be edited to fix a mistake, we don't have to copy and paste the entire summary each time, and it makes it easier to change them. So if we want to reorganize them, we only need to edit half as many templates. Sound like a good idea? Emma ^(Talk) 07:00, July 2, 2008 (UTC)

Japanese Names

This is a little off-topic. But translating my name into Japanese Romanji gives Matto. Weird. Translating Adam gives Adamu. Translating David gives Debiddo. Ando, I'm not sure, but am I close in saying that you are using the shortened form of Andoryuu? I can't find anything online that converts Romanji to English, so I don't think that I'm giving away your name here. It makes sense. Yup. Given that I'm learning Japanese, it was only a matter of time before learning that Andrew -> Andoryuu. The thing is, アンドリュウ is obscenely long, especially when you consider that it's six characters as opposed to the usual Japanese 2 for their first name (tack on my 4-character last name and I've got a 10-character name rather than the Japanese 4!). 1) Not sure what translator Matt's using, but online translators for last names are extremely unreliable. And heck, if they don't have a set database for first names, that's unreliable, too. I was once told that my name was pronounced Anderebu. Yeah, that's not correct?
2) Eight letters. Japanese forms its pronunciation as just that: pronunciation. They don't go based on the spelling. They just make it however long it needs to be to get as close to the same pronunciation as possible. —Ando (talk) 15:44, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Would you mind adding the Chatroom as an option to for a blocked user to contest the block on the Blocked text page? The paragraph should go something like this:

I think that it could stand to be deleted. It is funny. Even though this is the original source, all of our completions tables now look a little different. Well, ZeldaGirl96 will make hers different when she has the time. I used the overflow thing because of the huge size of my page. It might not be necessary on yours or ZeldaGirl96's. At least we can finally have the full source for it. As I said before, I'll let anyone copy the template from my page without requiring them cite me as a source. Three people have taken it from my page. Adam was polite about it, as was ZeldaGirl96. There was another that said above it, "I stolez this" I believe. I'm not sure why that person spelled stoles, which itself is the wrong use the word, with a "z". Another table is on a userpage, but seems to have come directly from your page. I'm rambling aren't I? :P Yeah, I didn't realize I actually played that many games over the years until I filled out my table. I took me a while to remember exactly how many times I played each game. These are only the Zelda games too. With all the other games I have played I think I have actually spent over a year of my life playing games. So assuming an average game time of 40 hours, I guessing here, over about two hundred and fifty play-throughs of all my games, that is over four hundred day's worth of game time. Wow! I didn't realize that until now. Good thing I had one of those good brain memory storage thingies that enabled me to get better grade without studying than those that did study! I'm serious. And I could be rambling! :P. I like my brain when it does all the work for me! :P It is great! I Can Relate

I know what you're going through. I had a cousin that had tumors. But it went bad. They just spread everywhere. Nothing could be done. She had a daughter. I really hope that you get better luck. She had that really aggressive malignant melanoma.
As far as nausea and illness goes, there was this one time I was sick with the flu. Technically I think I was the first one to have it that season in my state, but we didn't report it. The first recorded case was three weeks after I got better. This started on Sept. 18, 2006. I had only a mild headache and for some reason I decided to check my temperature. It was 104°F (40°C)! That day was our homecoming parade day. I rested for two days then with nothing but the high fever and a slight headache. Then as the third day came, the four days of living hell began. I was vomiting every fifteen or thirty minutes on average. I had a constant migraine that literally felt like there was a drill going to my head. And because of those two things I wasn't able to sleep for more than twenty minutes at a time. I think I only got four hours of sleep the whole time. Because of the frequent vomiting, I got severely dehydrated and didn't eat anything at all, and no medications would stay down long enough to be effective. I don't know why I wasn't hospitalized. But my mother is a really good nurse so that might have made a difference. So I have been near the brink of death. I can relate to your issues and I hope that you get through it in one piece, well minus those unwelcome, over-active, mutated cells that are being so naughty.Emma ^(Talk) 23:34, July 6, 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, as far as my tumors go, they're actually apparently the rarest type known to man - in fact, when we tell a doctor "they're this type" they say, "okay, um, do you mean this type?" "No." None of them have even heard of these tumors! Got me in a medical journal, though, so cool I guess? Although the downside is that since they've never SEEN them they don't know what to DO with them. Operating is out of the question 'cause they're not only in weird places, but they'd probably just re-generate anyway (whoo). So let's irradiate them!!
Regarding YOUR sickness, that sounds terrible. I had a similar experience where I got to around 103.8 degrees. I wasn't vomiting every half hour, though, but I felt like I should have been, and threw up at least daily. That's my main problem - throwing up might make me feel better, but I hate doing it so I've trained myself to NOT throw up and just suffer. Awesome.
And believe you me, I know what it's like to not eat for four days. I had nothing but a cup of yogurt for that whole experience. Totally awesome, no? Still, you totally should have gone to the hospital. But as long as you lived, whatever, right? :P

Rather late, but I know how it feels to be panicked. I doubt anyone here has had stitches to their chin twice and fractured their growth plate. The stitches happened years ago when I was younger. The fracturing happened several months ago, around September-October last year. Something like that. I had it off before new years though. This is probably one of my smaller injuries, but years ago i cut all the skin around my right knee after having a rather bad fall. I fell right on the knee, and the next thing I knew, I had what seemed to be a whole scab around my 7 year old knee. Not as bad as your cases (Ando, I know how it feels to hate throwing up. I had never had to do it for years, but this year I got some sickness. I did it once, but i hated it. You have to wash out your whole mouth and put on all new clothes D:. I also lost my tonsils when I was seven. Couldn't talk for a whole week. I could talk, but it hurt SO FREAKING BAD. Even worse, they said no ice cream. Only popsicles. Why? WHY? What he did was simply modify the Featured Picture Nomination page (amongst others) much like Adam or I do when there's a new Featured Picture. He then added it to a template, again, just like we do. None of those pages are protected; heck, I did it myself once before I was sysop, I think (I did SOMEthing like this, anyway). The only page that only I could edit with the necessary adjustments is the Main Page, which I have just done. —Ando (talk) 16:01, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Recent Spammers

I'm probably pointing out the obvious here, but I think all of these accounts being used for spamming on the pages are from the same user. He's continuing to make more it seems. Yeah, I figured as much -- what's confusing me is how. Although he seems to have slowed down, so perhaps the fact that I'm blocking every IP that they've used and will try to edit from is working? They appear to be using an automated program to generate the accounts and edit. But oh well! As long as the blocks are working; the edits can be reverted.

If it were just a single page it would have been one thing, but they were using an automated program that would automatically generate a new account, pull up a random page, then vandalize it. Guys, just to fill you all in on the details of this issue, I think myself and Jason were to blame for that. I'd suggested to him a while back that we remove the ConfirmEdit extension, which had previously been configured to produce a mathematical Captcha for edits containing external weblinks (back in the days when this kind of spam was endemic - for those who weren't around to see, I was reverting up to 100 edits a day and blocking dozens of IPs... good times... ) This feature basically became redundant with the decision to restrict editing to registered users, but what neither of us were fully aware of was the protection which was being provided against auto-account-creations. Removing the extension allowed a flood of these, and as soon as I saw that (with our handy new Newuserlog extension!) I reinstalled ConfirmEdit and set it to produce a Captcha only on account creation. So in short, we shouldn't see any more of this problem, and if we do we'll find another way to stop it. On the subject of extensions, you may have noticed that we have a number of shiny new features shown here. If anyone thinks there's something else we should have (either an extension you know of, or just a feature you've seen elsewhere), please feel free to make a suggestion at Hyrule Castle.
