Is there a chance that someone could pull an image of a Tingle -other than THE tingle- out of their hat? By this I mean one or several of the "other" tingles seen in TRR. Thanks. Alter  {T C B H } 05:44, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hmm...

I'm debating the necessity of this article. This topic is covered in greater detail here, and I'm not entirely sure that the topic is large nor noteworthy enough for its own article. So really we're at either greatly expand this article to the point that the related information on the Tingle article is obsolete, or make this page a redirect to the Tingle article. Any thoughts? —Ando (talk) 08:06, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

From what I've played of the game, I would say that it is. It's a relatively large part of the game. I would suggest a merge. What do you think? Alter  {T C B H } 16:58, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Rupee

Hmm... I don't think that the "R" is supposed to be capitalized. We are talking about a currency here. "Dollar" is not normally capitalized. Neither is yen, euro, sheckle, etc. I've noticed this on several articles. Thoughts? Alter  {T C B H } 01:06, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sigh... You like following me around, don't you? :) I just looked in two player's guides I have lying around (Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask) and they capitalize it. Update: I just looked at the instruction manuals for LoZ, AoL, ALttP, LA, OoT, MM, OoA, OoS, TWW, TMC, TP, and PH, and they all capitalize it except for LA. TLoZ calls them "rubies" and they aren't in AoL. --Makar Rocks 01:18, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Edit conflict: lol Actually, you seem to gravitate towards my watched pages, especially the ones I created in the first place. :) Anyway, perhaps, but that doesn't make it correct. A "rupee" is an actual currency in India, and it is not capitalized there. Alter  {T C B H } 01:47, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Not to sound stiff, but if we're going to go by manuals, then we have new definite timeline arcs, new spellings of names, etc. Manuals aren't great when it comes to the sort of grammar. Alter  {T C B H } 01:48, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I looked at several text dumps from the games and they all capitalize Rupee. Good enough? --Makar Rocks 02:35, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hmm... sadly, I'm still not sure. When is it not capitalized? (I'm assuming you excluding games that are in all caps? If it's only a few times, then it's not really proof. The actual currency known as a rupee is not capitalized. Also, let's assume that it was you and I who were creating the text. My games would be lowercase, while yours would be in upper. Alter  {T C B H } 03:17, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
In the text dumps (easily found on GameFAQs) of Ocarina of Time, the Oracle games, and A Link to the Past, Rupee is capitalized *every single time*. You can check the other games if you want, but I think I've given enough proof here. --Makar Rocks 03:40, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Alright, but I would like to have some other people's input before we make a decision. Alter  {T C B H } 04:18, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
My input, and wiki policies input, is that if Nintendo of America's localizations capitalize it, then so do we. As the English game versions capitalize it, they should be capitalized.{{:User:Melchizedek1866/sig 05:54, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
OK, then. I guess we'll just leave t. :) Alter  {T C B H } 16:54, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Members?

I understand Tingle and Barkle being considered Tingles, but what justification is there that Ankle, Knuckle, David Jr., or Tingle's Uncle are members? Is it just because of how they are dressed? That doesn't seem like a valid justification. Dark Mirror's Link (talk) 04:51, 17 January 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

That sounds right. From the small discussion here, they probably should be removed, and instead put under See Also perhaps, especially because it is "ambiguously canon" (we need to add {{ambig}} to the page too).
Also, should we put the "habitat" as Rupeeland? If they are forced to live there, maybe, though I haven't played the game. Comparatively, Zora has specified habitats, and they can travel freely; though in this case this "species" (which is not really a species, more like a curse) just pops into existence at the whim of Uncle Rupee. So maybe we shouldn't overthink it, or rather, leave out habitat or put N/A, since the Species Infobox doesn't quite suit this case?
Last thing, Pinkle as well as Tingle's Uncle are probably Tingles also, but are never stated explicitly, so does anyone have any information on that? (I presume Barkle was transformed with Tingle?) If so, then we can't have "wear green suit" under the Special Characteristic(s) either.

Plus, if a Tingle is sort of a species, how should we add it to Barkle? (Currently the species is Dog)

Tingle is a state of being that one gets from Uncle Rupee, regardless of race. One is given the state if they say they wish to go to Rupeeland, but that doesn't mean all Tingles are in Rupeeland or that Rupeeland is their habitat, so I think that part should not be included.
Pinkle is a fiary, and the fairies are the main enemy of Uncle Rupee. There is nothing that indicates that Pinkle is a Tingle, just that she is forced to work for Uncle Rupee.
Barkle is actually turned in the course of the game into a Tingle (a regular dog turned Tingle Dog), meaning that Barkle is a Tingle.
Tingle's Uncle, if I remember correctly, is not really present for much of any of the game. The only reason one can have for saying he is a Tingle is due to claiming the outfit must equate to Tingles. It is pure speculation.
The only ones confirmed to be Tingles are Tingle and Barkle, the others would be speculation (and unsupported speculation at that). Dark Mirror's Link (talk) 08:28, 17 January 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
