Wait, the person you heal has they're soul trapped in the mask? That makes no sense, or Link's soul would be trapped in the mask too, right?

Mikau was dying and would never be able to save Lulu's eggs if his body were deceased. Link played the Song of Healing trapped his soul inside the mask allowing Mikau (Link) to finish the task of saving the eggs. The Deku Mask probably already housed the Deku Butler's Son, and the reason for playing the Song of Healing for Link was to regain his real form, 'healing' himself. When Link plays the Song of Healing for Kamaro, it only hosts his musical talent, so his soul can be put to rest as Kamaro requests. ZeldaGirl96 15:10, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

It doesn't actually hold their soul in it, per se, but it holds the tools Link needs to act in their place. Their soul is put to rest, otherwise it's not really healing them, because they would be trapped in a mask. At least, in my opinion, but I think it makes more sense. --Oboromaru 16:07, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
