Themes and Navigation

Link moving the Lever Switch in the Shrine

The entrance chamber of the Riogok Shrine is divided into two separate chambers, each with its own Gear and separated by a portcullis. These Gear sit parallel from each other and both possess shafts with pinions pointed toward each other. These pinions are separated by a small gap, which can be bridged by merging a nearby Pole in the entrance to one of their fillets between the teeth with Ultrahand. A nearby Shock Switch controls the Gear to the right, which can cause the second Gear to move if the Pole has been positioned properly. When the second Gear moves, the portcullis to the second chamber will lift.

Inside the second chamber, there is a second pole along the floor, a ladder leading to a lower level on the left, two stone slabs along a rail on the wall to the left, a recess in the wall along the back with a Treasure Chest, and a broken Lever Switch controlling a portcullis to a side chamber on the right. By merging the Pole onto the broken Lever Switch, Link can open the room to the right to find a third Pole, which is necessary to advance to the end of the Shrine.

A solution to the Gear puzzle

One of the teeth on the second Gear is longer and thinner than the others. By merging a Pole to it, it can be used to push the bottom stone slab along the rail on the left. If the third pole is merged vertically onto the slab, it can be used to push the second slab upward to the end of the Shrine. Link can reach a Statue of Rauru and Sonia by using Ascend on the stone slabs. By interacting with the Terminal in front of the Statue, Link can receive a Light of Blessing to cleanse the corruption of Darkness from within him.[2][3]
