Hi! I'm SuperBowser64, and I'm not ashamed of creating a Zelda Wiki account with a Mario username! I'm a longtime fan of the Legend of Zelda series, and have one of the new Zelda Game & Watches. I've played Zelda games on a real SNES, N64, and GBA SP, just to name a few. I also have a Mario Wiki account so make sure to visit me there! if you like long lists and political campaigns, that's the place for you.

If I've ever seen a funny ol' load of crap, this is it. I guess we better make new sections on the Link and Zelda pages right away or else PBS be knockin' at the door to kill us up.

It won't be announced until tomorrow (June 21), but just so ya know, guys, the TOTK DLC be comin' out soon...

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Release Day Log: May 12th, 2023 (EST)

10:34 AM: Yay for Tears of the Kingdom!! It's morning on release day and Nintendo's website is already in a state of chaos! I have several out-of-stock items in my cart as well as items that say they haven't been released. The Tears of the kingdom Pro Controller sold out in LITERALLY 10 minutes after release, and the Tears of the Kingdom Collector's Edition sold out even faster! I hope to snag one of these before the day is done.

11:13 AM: GameStop doesn't appear to have much in stock other than the base game, Walmart is overrun with scams, piracy, and fakes, and Amazon, well, let's just say you don't want to go there.

11:35 AM: Best Buy looks promising, with the TOTK amiibo in stock, as well as the Collector's Edition occasionally reappearing as in-stock. I spent 5 minutes in a mad dash to make an account with a frickin' "moderately strong" password only to find I lost my spot in line for the Collector's Edition.

11:52 AM: Target doesn't look like it's selling much of anything except the standard edition, although it does have a Wind Waker amiibo 2-pack for MSRP of $30.

12:19 PM: Got kicked out of the line to buy the Collector's Edition on Best Buy again. So close though!

1:42 PM: Target sold out of the Wind Waker amiibos, and Nintendo doesn't look like it's going to bother to restock anything anytime soon. I still haven't given up hope! Zelda Wiki is getting pretty crazy. Red links are everywhere, and I'm doing the best I can to write up information.

1:50 PM: If everything else goes wrong, at least I can buy the cool new TOTK merch Nintendo put out. I love the glow-in the dark theme. $30 for a shirt, though!?

3:38 PM: Best Buy looks like it won't ship the Collector's Edition or the Pro Controller anymore. I'm hoping Nintendo might eventually restock their website! I passed some time completing the My Nintendo mission for finding raft pieces on the Tears of the Kingdom website.

4:02 PM: One thing I found is that Amazon actually has the preorder for the TOTK Complete Official Guide: Collector's Edition on sale from $45 down to $27. That's something I might have to consider.

7:34 PM: Well, I was going to upload a picture of a Tears of the Kingdom-style Lunchable, but I literally couldn't get it to stop being upside down. I guess Lunchables is doing a sweepstakes to win one of 750 Nintendo Switch: OLED Models. Here's the box: ↓

Yum!

7:45 PM: I found the URL for the Lunchables Nintendo Switch Sweepstakes. If you are one of the winners you get an OLED Model Switch as well as your choice of Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe, Splatoon 3, Nintendo Switch Sports, and... The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I know which one I want.

8:50 PM: It's getting late... I got in line for the Collector's Edition on Best Buy, though when I click the "Add to Cart" button, what does it the button do? Disappear. I might have to settle for Standard Edition if things stay like this. However, the Pro Controller and Collector's Edition on Best Buy have gone completely out of stock to "Not Available" in the last couple of hours. This gives me hope!

9:18 PM: I'm a little confused about Nintendo's website. Instead of the usual short-term "This item is currently unavailable. Please check back soon.", the Pro Controller and TOTK Collector's Edition say "This item is no longer available." Surely Nintendo hasn't already stopped selling them for good already, but it makes me wonder when they will be restocked. However, I still won't stop checking and I won't give up hope!!

9:30 PM: I guess this will be the last entry for today. I'll keep you posted with updates tomorrow though, too! With no purchased items thus far, this is SuperBowser64 signing off on Friday, May 12, 2023. See you tomorrow!

UPDATE: Monday, June 5, 2023

Well, I guess I got too busy to follow up on this, but I will probably buy TOTK this summer, maybe along with a cheap gamepad. By the way, the Tears of the Kingdom Pro Controller officially holds the record for the shortest product lifespan in Nintendo history, with the time between product release and permanent discontinuation (recorded by me) approximately 4 minutes and 30 seconds. That's good ol' anti-consumer Nintendo for ya!
