| Stuck on Great Sky Island? We're here to help!
| Welcome to the Legend of Zelda™: Tears of the Kingdom game channel! While you're here, take a load off, gather around a cooking pot, and enjoy a healthy assortment of tips and tricks.

Before we get into today's topic, let's address the Hinox in the room: This specific article is for folks who might need help with the first playable area of the game, Great Sky Island. For everyone else, feel free to skip this one and check out something else on your news feed—we'll see you at the next article!

For now, let's head to the sky.

The sky's the limit

Trust us, there's a lot going on in this game and everyone needs a helping hand (Ultrahand?) every now and then. If you're stuck on Great Sky Island, here's a short walkthrough of what to do:

1) Ultrahand is all about picking up and moving objects, rotating them, and attaching them to other objects. In the Ukouh Shrine, try attaching stone slabs together to build a long bridge. Later in the shrine, also try attaching planks and hooks to each other.

2) After completing the Ukouh Shrine, look around for the green glow of two more shrines. Use your Scope by pressing down the Right Stick and mark the shrines you find by pressing the A Button—this will drop a Pin on that location. Trust us, this tool will come in handy throughout the entire game!

3) Fuse is about magically adding an item to your equipped weapon or shield. In the In-isa Shrine, use Fuse to add a rock to your weapon in order to break through walls. You can also add a Fire Fruit to an arrow to burn through dried vines.

4) Having trouble getting to the shrine at the top of the snowy cliffside? Climbing on ice is a no-go because it's too slick—a slippery situation indeed! Instead, try one of these methods:

- Create a climbable object using stuff on the ground or the trees growing around you.

- Find a location that isn't frozen and seems climbable.

5) If the conditions are right, Ascend lets you jump directly upward and pass through ceilings. In the Gutanbac Shrine, proceed by passing through a series of ceilings. Keep in mind that ropes can be cut with a bladed weapon or arrow.

6) Still looking for the Temple of Time? Once you exit the Gutanbac Shrine, turn right to find a spot that should be climbable with Ascend. Pass through the hole in the tree to find a Zonai device called a Wing. Placing it on the grooved runway will cause it to slide forward—quickly hop aboard and ride it straight to the temple!

- Flight tips: Stand in the middle of the Wing to fly straight, while carefully moving to the left side or right side will cause it to turn either left or right. Move to the back of the Wing at your destination to cause it to descend.

7) After getting the Recall ability at the Temple of Time, you'll still need to find the fourth shrine (Nachoyah Shrine). Open your Map and Travel to the Room of Awakening. Next, head towards the giant cogs and Ascend to a higher location. From that spot, you can use Recall on the spinning cog to reverse the movement and cross over to the opposite side. Follow the passageway and there it is!

8) The Nachoyah Shrine is all about using the Recall ability to reverse the movement of certain objects. Along the way, you'll encounter a gate that immediately shuts after it has been opened—once the gate opens, use Recall on the clock hand to pass through.

9) OK, now take a moment to congratulate yourself—you've done a lot! As you can imagine, the next stop is the surface of Hyrule, and this is where the game really opens up. While you can explore any direction you want to on the surface, we recommend opening your Map and heading towards the gold marker (and completing the first couple of objectives ... at least until you learn about the Skyview Towers). If the marker isn't being displayed, try selecting "To the Kingdom of Hyrule" in the Adventure Log.

We hope you enjoy exploring Hyrule!

Stuck on Great Sky Island? We're here to help!

Transcript

Smile for the Camera!

Transcript

Hello! Today, we bring you some hot tips regarding that pinnacle of Hyrulean Technology, the Camera.

First of all, do you know what happens when you press the X Button while using the Camera? That's right, it switches to Self-Portrait mode, letting you grab a picture with Link in it!

What's more, you can use the Left Stick to select one of four poses, or the ZL Button + Left Stick to choose from four more, for a grand total of eight fun poses Link can strike in pursuit of the perfect snap.

On top of that, while looking through the pictures you took on your Purah Pad, did you know you can press the Y Button to enter Full Screen mode? You can then press the Capture Button on your controller to get a screenshot of the picture, perfect if you'd like to post a selfie of Link on social media, for example!

(If you don't have the Camera yet. that means you have to make progress the [sic] "Camera Work in the Depths" Main Quest, which begins in Lookout Landing.)

Nice of you to keep reading this far! As thanks, we'd like to present you with a Golden Apple. Maybe you can use it in your cooking...? To claim it, simply launch the game using the link below!

A Tip for Finding Lightroots in the Depths

Transcript

Greetings, traveller! How are you doing with your exploration of the Depths? The pitch-darkness can be pretty unnerving, but luckily for you, if you can only reach a lightroot, it'll light up the surrounding area for you.

"But how do I find those lightroots?!", we hear you ask. Well, fret not, for we have just the ticket to make that job a mite easier!

If you take a look at your map of overground Hyrule, and compare it to your map of the Depths, surprise! The positions of the Shrines of Light and the lightroots actually match! Be sure to look at them both carefully the next time you're to discover something - wherever there's a shrine, you can expect to fina a lightroot right below. (And naturally, the opposite is also true!)

If you launch the game using the link below, you'll receive two Sundelions as a gift, from us to you. Cooking them into a dish will give you a way to restore hearts lost to the gloom, making them invaluable to any intrepid explorer of the Depths. Good hunting, and good luck!

Gems - Not Just a Pretty Facet

Transcript

Greetings, all! Have you ever wondered what to do with the opals and rubies and such that you sometimes find when mining ore deposits in caves?

Of course you could always sell them for a pretty rupee, but gems also have their more practical uses. For instance, fusing a ruby with a sword or spear will turn it into a weapon that can launch fireballs!

Using other gems will net you different results - fuse opal to get water balls, and topaz to get lightning balls

You could also try fusing a gem with a Magic Rod to increase its attack power.

So there you have it. After all the hard work you put into finding gems, you'll have to agonise over whether to sell them or use them to give your weapons more oomph. Decisions, decisions...

Start the game using the button below and you'll get a couple of components to ease you in:

1 x Opal
1 x Magic Rod

We're sure you'll put them to good use!

Shields - perfectly designed for...flight?!

Transcript

Today we'd like to introduce you to a bit of an unusual use for shields.

You might naturally think of shields as tools that help, well, shield you from enemies and attacks. But did you know that, with some out-of-the-box fusing, they can also help you get Link to all sorts of places - even up in the sky?

For example, if you fuse an Octo Balloon to a shield, you can enjoy a nice, pleasant drift (although admittedly not one that will take you very high off the ground). If you fuse a rocket to a shield, however, you can imagine that the liftoff you'll achieve is quite a lot more explosive.

Start the game using the button below and you'll get some items to try it out for yourself:

Octo Balloon x 1
Rocket x 1
Traveler's Shield x 1

Set your sights on the skies and see just how far up you can get, whether you're aiming to climb a mountain or reach a sky island up above!

Lost in the dark? Time for your cooking to shine!

Transcript

Spelunking without a light source in Hyrule can be a tricky business. Not only is it hard see [sic] where you're going, but bumping into things in the darkness can have unpleasant consequences!

This time, we're taking a look at how cooking can help you find your way in caves or the Depths.

Strange as it seems, cooking some of the glowing cave fish and brightcaps found in caves throughout Hyrule will give you a meal which, when eaten, will cause Link to glow! Granted, the effect doesn't last forever, nor will it illuminate an entire cave, but there'll be enough light to help you find your way.

Start the game using the button below and you'll get some free ingredients to kickstart your culinary experiment:

Glowing Cave Fish x 3
Brightcap x 2

Cook these up together and you'll be able to make a Fish and Mushroom Skewer with a glow effect!

The next time you find yourself in a dark area, consider eating a light meal!

Greetings, all! Perhaps you've had a run-in with Like Likes before. These monsters live in dark areas like caves, and also lie in wait along paths for unsuspecting passers-by to gobble up!

This time we're going to take a look at how to deal with Like Likes if you're having trouble fighting them.

As it happens, Like Likes are particularly partial to weapons and shields. For instance, if you drop a sword near one, the greedy beast will swallow it right up! Then, while it's busy chowing down, you'll be able to beat a speedy retreat without having to get your hands dirty.

Shields - perfectly designed for...flight?!

The Likes of Like Likes

Greetings, all! Perhaps you've had a run-in with Like Likes before. These monsters live in dark areas like caves, and also lie in wait along paths for unsuspecting passers-by to gobble up!

This time we're going to take a look at how to deal with Like Likes if you're having trouble fighting them.

As it happens, Like Likes are particularly partial to weapons and shields. For instance, if you drop a sword near one, the greedy beast will swallow it right up! Then, while it's busy chowing down, you'll be able to beat a speedy retreat without having to get your hands dirty.

Start the game using the button below and we'll give you some gear that could come in handy when you need a decoy:

Hunter's Shield x 1
Knight's Broadsword x 1

We hope you put them to good use the next time you decide to fight another day!
