The Shrine Waterfall is a location in Link's Awakening.[1]

Features and Overview

The Shrine Waterfall is located in the region on the eastern coast of Koholint Island, although in the original game and Link's Awakening DX it forms the north-eastern section of the Face Shrine region which encompasses the Shrine Waterfall region,[citation needed] the Face Shrine to the north-west and the Ancient Ruins to the south.

The area consists of a small maze with rocks and grass blocking passage, and a river in the north. A Secret Seashell can be found hidden underneath a lone rock in the north-east of the maze. An Owl Statue is situated on the very eastern edge of the area, speaking cryptically of the Wind Fish's sleep.[2] The tree behind contains a hidden Fairy that will appear if Link rams into it with the Pegasus Boots.

The eponymous waterfall in this region is where the Rapids Ride to the north ends and is the source of the river which runs through the north of the region. The Shrine Waterfall has direct connections to the Face Shrine, and the Ancient Ruins regions. A cave in the northern cliffs leads to Tal Tal Heights, where the Rapids Ride begins.

Link must pass through the region in order to access the Ancient Ruins in the south, and later the Face Shrine in the north-west.
