Rupee Rocks,(ALBW)[1] also known as Flashing Stones,(ALttP)[2] are recurring Objects in The Legend of Zelda series.

Location and Uses

Rupee Rocks resemble ordinary Rocks that sparkle with light, and can be found scattered around Hyrule, the Dark World, and Lorule, both out in the open and inside Caves. Link can strike them with his Sword to make them dispense Rupees for a short period of time. Lifting a Rupee Rock or exhausting it of its Rupees will turn it into a regular Rock.

A Link to the Past

Flashing Stones appear only in the Game Boy Advance version of A Link to the Past. They sparkle heavily with blue light. Once Link strikes one with his Fighter's Sword, he can continue to strike them for up to five seconds or until 11 Rupees have been dispensed, whichever comes first. The first nine Rupees will be Green Rupees, each worth a single Rupee; the tenth will be a Blue Rupee, and the eleventh will be a Red Rupee. If Link strikes the Flashing Stone once more before it stops sparkling, it will drop a Bomb that will explode within seconds.

A Link Between Worlds

In A Link Between Worlds, Rupee Rocks sparkle less noticeably, and with green light. Once Link strikes one with his Sword, he can continue to strike them for up to four seconds or until ten Rupees have been dispensed, whichever comes first. Most Rupees that appear will be Green Rupees, though occasionally a Blue Rupee will appear at random.
