Biography

Two years prior to the manga's events,[1] Rioma lived in a city that guarded the border of a desert.[2] He and the others boys within the city would practice sword fighting to defend Hyrule's borders when they grew up.[3]

Rioma is first seen dueling his friend Link.[4][5] Zeu approaches the boys and suggests stopping for the day.[6] Rioma complains that fighting Link is difficult because he is left handed,[7] with Link replying he would do the same right handed against him.[8] Darpa confronts Link and asks if he can really defend Hyrule with just a sword and skill against the demon thief.[9] Rioma questions what Darpa plans to do.[10] Darpa reveals his plans to acquire a sword stronger than magic, the Gaurof Sword.[11][12]. When he leads Rioma, Link, and Zeu to where the Gaurof Sword is kept, Rioma expresses his uncertainty, as they have been told not to go near it by parents and teachers.[13] Darpa snaps at him and says to go back if he is scared of getting in trouble.[14] While Darpa unsuccessfully tries to pull the sword,[15] Rioma tells him to give it up.[16] Rioma watches as Link tries to pull out the sword next. He succeeds, but the stone that the sword had been stuck in sucks Rioma, the city, and the other boys inside, leaving Link as the sole survivor.[17]

Wolf Link has a flashback in the manga's second volume where Rioma is shown with Darpa and Zeu.[18] He feels ashamed that they were unable to protect Princess Zelda and laments his own fate as a beast.[19]
