In Phantom Hourglass, Pirate Ships are usually seen sailing the waters of the World of the Ocean King with several Cannon Boats at its side. When it spots Link's ship, it will immediately start attacking him. If the ship is not destroyed in time, the Pirate Miniblins inside the Pirate Ship will ambush the young hero's ship. A pirate ship has to be hit five times for it to sink.[2][3]

Spirit Tracks

In Spirit Tracks, Link first encounters the Pirate Ship as he is taking Carben back to the Ocean Sanctuary after having encountered him in Papuchia Village. On the trip to the sanctuary, they are ambushed by the Pirate Ship. The Miniblins then promptly begin to climb aboard the Spirit Train by breaking through the windows, and the young hero must defeat them to protect Carben.[4] If Link doesn't prevent the Miniblins from reaching Carben, they will capture the Lokomo in a cage, ending up in a Game Over. After Link has defeated a couple of Miniblins, a Big Blin will also climb aboard, which Link must promptly defeat before the enemy reaches Carben. Once the young hero successfully defeats the Pirates and safely reaches the Ocean Sanctuary, Carben will reward with a Force Gem that reveals more Spirit Tracks in the Forest Realm.[5]

The Pirate Ship, when not sailing the seas of the Ocean Realm, can be seen in the Pirate Hideout. Once the Pirate's Prisoner has been rescued, the Pirate Ship will reappear in the Ocean Realm whenever Link has a passenger on his train, and it gives 20 Rupees if sunk. If the pirates board the train, then Link will gain a Pirate's Necklace if he successfully fends them off. Otherwise, the passenger must be rescued from the Pirate Hideout before any other passengers will agree to board the Spirit Train.
