Pirate Ships are recurring Enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.[1]

Characteristics

Phantom Hourglass

Pirate Ships are usually seen sailing the waters of the World of the Ocean King with several Cannon Boats at their side in Phantom Hourglass. When they spot the SS Linebeck, they will immediately start attacking it. If the Pirate Ship is not destroyed in time, the Pirate Miniblins inside will ambush Link's ship.

Spirit Tracks

Link first encounters a Pirate Ship as he is taking Carben back to the Ocean Sanctuary in Spirit Tracks. After the ambush, Miniblins begin to climb aboard the Spirit Train by breaking through the windows, so Link must defeat them to protect Carben.[2] If he fails to prevent the Miniblins from reaching Carben, they will capture the Lokomo in a cage, ending up in a Game Over. After Link has defeats a couple of Miniblins, a Big Blin will also climb aboard, which he must defeat before it reaches Carben. Once Link successfully defeats the Pirates and safely reaches the Ocean Sanctuary, Carben will reward with a Force Gem.[3]

A Pirate Ship, when not sailing Ocean Realm, can be seen in the Pirate Hideout. Once Wadatsumi has been rescued, a Pirate Ship will appear in the Ocean Realm whenever Link has a passenger on his Train, giving 20 Rupees if sunk. If the pirates board the Train, then Link will gain a Pirate Necklace if he successfully fends them off. Otherwise, the passenger must be rescued from the Pirate Hideout before any other passengers will agree to board the Spirit Train.
