Seven years later, when Link returns to the ranch, he is able to claim the horse [[Epona]] for his own, and in doing so, breaks the spell that [[Ingo]], the other worker on the ranch, had been under.  Malon remembers Link and allows him to race around the ranch to compete against her best time.  When he's able to beat her score, she rewards him with one of the famous Lon Lon cows.

Trivia

  • In some fan art and fan fiction, Malon is depicted as Link's lover.
  • With the Mask of Truth, Link can learn from the Gossip Stones that Malon dreams for a knight to take her away.
  • Both Malon and Talon have "Bowser Medalions" at their necks, in the shape of Bowser's head. No one knows what the easter egg is meant to represent.
  • The symbols on the bottom of her dress spell 'Lon' in Hylian.
  • Her mother may be a Gerudo.
