Link (Pig)
Link is the name of a pig owned by Abe and Rose on Outset Island in The Wind Waker. They named it after its captor while he was away. Link the pig grew very large by the next time the young hero saw him.
Link can use the rather obese pig to dig in the dark patches of dirt in order to unearth a Piece of Heart. To do so, Link needs to use one piece of the All Purpose Bait and also use the Power Bracelet to lift the pig. Abe will ask Link to take the pig out for a walk when Link sees him fully grown. If Link slices at the pig with his sword, it will become angry, just like other pigs, but due to its massive size it will deal four hearts of damage rather than one.
The pig that grows to the large size will always be the first pig that Link takes to Rose at the beginning of the game. Thus, it is possible for the pig to be black, pink, or spotted.
Trivia
- Once Link the pig attacks the young hero, he is impossible to placate unless Link gets away or dies, therefore rendering him invincible.
- Zill and Joel admit to having eaten the other pigs if Link had given them more than one earlier in the game. This is why there can only be one giant pig named Link.
- No matter which color Link is, the Nintendo Gallery will depict him as pink.
