The Great Swords are a class of Weapon used by Ganondorf in Hyrule Warriors.[name references needed] It is associated with Darkness.

Variations

The default form of the Great Swords are the Swords of Despair, which are gigantic, mismatched blades with sinister designs.

The second form of the Great Swords are the Swords of Darkness, which are purple in design and feature more spikes than the Swords of Despair. In Hyrule Warriors, they can be obtained from getting an A-Rank on Adventure Mode's Adventure Map square F-15 after using an Ice Arrow Item Card to find them.

The third form are the Swords of Demise, which are black and red swords with gold hilts and pommels, now bearing several red, horn-like spikes emerging from each blade. In Hyrule Warriors, they can be obtained from getting an A-Rank on the Adventure Map square B-8, after using a Digging Mitts Item Card to find them.

The Lv.★ Great Swords are the 8-Bit Magical Key, which are based on the Magical Key and a Key from The Legend of Zelda. They were added to Hyrule Warriors with the Twilight Princess Pack DLC and are obtained as a Reward for A-Rank Victory on Battle H5 on the Twilight Map, after using a Bomb Item Card to find them. In Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, instead of appearing as a separate Weapon, the 8-Bit Magical Key replaces the Swords of Renewal when the "8-Bit Weapons" Setting is turned on in Game Settings within the Settings menu.

Special Attack

Main article: Special Attack

Ganondorf raises the sword in his right-hand skyward, summoning a bolt of lightning from the sky that electrifies the blade. Several more lightning bolts strike in a line ahead of him which crash into the enemies ahead. He then slashes his sword horizontally, firing the collected lightning ahead in a final, devastating blow.
