Cucco
The cucco features in many Zelda games, from A Link to the Past to Majora's Mask. They are white chickens which peck delightfully and flutter around without a care in the world. When provoked or attacked with a sword (or any weapon, for that matter), they will screech and summon more cuccos to attack you; they can even kill you if you are not careful. This is sometimes known as the Cucco's Revenge Squad. While carrying a cucco, Link can jump and use the cucco to glide. This technique is known as Chicken gliding.
Interestingly enough, cucoos are an extinct species of birds that were considered a delicacy in ancient Babylon. Cucoos appeared much like a conventional bird, but look more like chickens in the Legend of Zelda series.
There is also other species of cucoos on Ocarina of Time, like the pocket cucoo and the blue cucoo. On The minish cap if you enter Anju's house (which can be only entered if you are a minish)
a younger version of the Cucoo's revenge squad that will attack as soon as they see you.
