{{Main|Armor in Breath of the Wild}}
{{Term|BotW|Armor}} serves a variety of purposes, primarily to provide {{Term|BotW|Link|link}} with defensive padding, allowing him to endure more damage. Damage numbers are shown numerically in {{BotW|-}}. Each number of damage normally deals a quarter of a {{Term|BotW|Heart|link}} to {{Term|BotW|Link}}. For example, an attack with a power of 4 will damage {{Term|BotW|Link}} by one full {{Term|BotW|Heart}}. By wearing {{Term|BotW|Armor}}, {{Term|BotW|Link}} can decrease the amount of damage he takes. Each piece of {{Term|BotW|Armor}} has a numeric rating that contributes to {{Term|BotW|Link}}'s overall Defense. The higher {{Term|BotW|Link}}'s Defense, the less damage he will take from {{Term|BotW|Enemy|link}} attacks. Wearing {{Term|BotW|Armor}} subtracts the attack's strength value by {{Term|BotW|Link}}'s total defense value. Wearing {{Term|BotW|Armor}} totaling a defense level of three or higher will reduce that attack's damage to a quarter of a {{Term|BotW|Heart}}, and no matter his defense, {{Term|BotW|Link}} takes at least a quarter of a {{Term|BotW|Heart}} of damage from any attack. {{Plural|BotW|Armor}} often pair with other pieces to form {{Plural|BotW|Armor Set|link}}.

For other items similar to Armor, see Clothes (Disambiguation) and Attire.

Armor are recurring Items in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2] They are pieces of Clothing and protective covering that Link can wear. Each piece of Armor has a numeric rating that contributes to Link's overall Defense. The higher Link's Defense, the less damage he will take from Enemy attacks.

Location and Uses

Breath of the Wild

Armor serves a variety of purposes, primarily to provide Link with defensive padding, allowing him to endure more damage. Damage numbers are shown numerically in Breath of the Wild. Each number of damage normally deals a quarter of a Heart to Link. For example, an attack with a power of 4 will damage Link by one full Heart. By wearing Armor, Link can decrease the amount of damage he takes. Each piece of Armor has a numeric rating that contributes to Link's overall Defense. The higher Link's Defense, the less damage he will take from Enemy attacks. Wearing Armor subtracts the attack's strength value by Link's total defense value. Wearing Armor totaling a defense level of three or higher will reduce that attack's damage to a quarter of a Heart, and no matter his defense, Link takes at least a quarter of a Heart of damage from any attack. Armor often pair with other pieces to form Armor Sets.

Certain pieces of Armor also provide Effects that can boost Link's attack, movement speed on Snow, Sand, through Water, or while Climbing, boost his stealth capabilities, or protect him from the environment. Environmental hazards include Lightning, Fire, heat, Ice, and the cold. Most clothing can be enhanced up to four times by the revived Great Fairies, with the number of available upgrades dependent on how many Great Fairies have been restored. Each upgrade comes with a certain cost of Materials. Armor Sets that have been enhanced at least twice may provide Set Bonuses.

If Link has no Armor on, some characters will pass comment.[3][4]

Extra pieces of Armor were added in the Expansion Pass DLC, and some pieces can also be gained by scanning certain Amiibo on the Wii U and Nintendo Switch consoles.

There are 107 pieces of Armor available to collect overall, of which Link can carry a maximum of 100 pieces in his Inventory at any one time.
