Twilit Dragon: Argorok (覚醒炎翼竜 ナルドブレア, Awoken Flame Pterasaur: Narudoburea) is the boss of the City in the Sky dungeon in Twilight Princess. It terrorized the Oocca, and wreaked havoc on the City in the Sky. It appears as a black armored red dragon and causes mischief in a manner reminiscent of mythological dragons.

Strategy

The battle takes place at the highest point in the dungeon—a flat plain with four steel grated pillars and very strong winds. Link must go to one of the pillars surrounding the field and climb to the middle of one of the pillars using his Clawshot. Once there, he must wait until Argorok flies up to him and exposes his tail. Link must target its tail. Once he has a hold of it, he must equip his Iron Boots to send Argorok crashing to the ground, destroying some of his armor. After all the armor is gone, taking about 2 times, a new weak spot (an eye) will be revealed on his back and Dirt Clods will burst from the ground to serve as extra Clawshot points. Link must climb to the top of the pillars and use the dirt clods to clawshot his way around the stage as Argorok breathes fire at him. Link must careful though; after a few times, Argorok will find out his strategy and change directions blowing fire when he least expects it. Once he stops, Link must make his way around to Argorok's back and target the newly revealed weak point with his clawshot, then slash away at it with his sword. Repeating this process three more times will put an end to Argorok, and Link will receive the final Mirror Shard and another Heart Container.

Trivia

  • Argorok is a play on Argo-, an archaic term for the Ancient Greeks, whose architecture the City in the Sky resembles, and -rok, a term used in the series for dragon enemies. It may also be a play on Kargarok, a similar common enemy.
Argorok may just be a normal Kargarok mutated by the Mirror Shard.
  • His armored appearance somewhat resembles Ridley from the Metroid series.
  • In the official website, its name was misspelled as Argarok.
  • The battle against Argorok is similar in strategy to the boss fights against the colossi in the Team Ico game Shadow of the Colossus.
  • Argorok, as well as Blizzeta/Yeta, are the only bosses in Twilight Princess that can be seen when exploring the dungeon. If Link looks up when he is outside, he can see Argorok flying in the sky, just as he can speak with Yeta at any time in Snowpeak Ruins.
  • Argorok dies just like any other enemy, for he merely explodes like normal enemies without any withering or epic defeat during his death scene, although he does panic, spraying fire all over before exploding.
