Template:Place Eldin is a region in Breath of the Wild.

Features and Overview

Eldin is a vast region in northern Hyrule. It is a largely mountainous stretch of land that consists densely of steep cliffs, deep gorges, and volcanic activity. The region is a rugged badland to the south, but is otherwise a harmless trek. Further to the north and closer to Death Mountain, however, the land increasingly grows more perilous with volcanoes and pools of lava. As Link nears this area, the temperature grows exceedingly hot and causes Link and any wooden gear equipped to catch on fire. Link can withstand the high temperatures by consuming Foods or Elixirs that grant fire resistance, or by wearing any of the Flamebreaker equipment, allowing him to safely travel through the hotter climate. As very few people can naturally withstand the intense heat without the aid of Foods or Armor, the Eldin region is home almost exclusively to the Goron Tribe. Animals well adapted to the climate, such as Fireproof Lizards and Eldin Ostriches, inhabit the region throughout.

Due to its hotter temperature, the region hosts a number of Hot Springs that will gradually recover Link's health as he swims through them. As another result of the high temperature, certain items will begin to burn as they are placed on the ground. Through this, it is possible to grill certain Foods. The region's volatile eruptions also causes Magma Bombs to drop from the sky in certain areas.[1]

During present events, the Eldin region is plagued by the Divine Beast Vah Rudania, which crawls along the walls of Death Mountain. Vah Rudania has caused Death Mountain's eruptions to worsen,[2] which conversely has also caused the Gorons' mining operations to decline.[3]

Eldin Canyon

The Eldin Canyon is the most expansive region of Eldin, covering the southernmost area and stretching to the northwest. The southern portion of the Canyon consists of the region's base, and is mainly a mountainous badland with deep gorges and rugged slopes. It serves as the main entrance to the Eldin region, via the road that paves through northern Lanayru. The northern portion has prevalent volcanic activity, with pools and rivers of lava formed by Death Mountain's eruptions. The region's hot temperatures have turned a number of bodies of water in southern Eldin Canyon into Hot Springs.

Foothill Stable

The Foothill Stable is a Stable that sits at the base of the Eldin Canyon, along the main road that leads to Goron City. The Stable is run by Ozunda, who manages both the Horse stables and the inn. As with other Stables, Beedle occasionally comes to the Stable to sell and buy items. Among those at the Stable, Kass the Rito bard can also be found there, who will sing Link a song about Hyrule's past 10,000 years ago. A nearby Shrine of Trials, the Mo'a Keet Shrine, sits on a cliff close to the Stable to the east, making it a convenient Fast Travel point to the Stable.

A woman named Gaile notably sells Fireproof Elixirs at the Stable, invaluable for travelers aiming to trek into the region's more hotter climate.

Lake Ferona

Lake Ferona is a small body of water to the south of Eldin Tower. Due to the region's higher temperatures, the Lake is warm and acts as a Hot Spring, and will thus recover Link's health as he swims through it. Ore Deposits can be found around the Lake's bank, usually containing Luminous Stones inside.

Southern Mine

The Southern Mine is a small mining quarry that sits along the main road leading to Goron City. It is denoted as Death Mountain Marker #3. The Mine is where the Gorons come to mine for Ores, which are an important resource to Goron City's economy.[4] The Goron miners work during the day, while the Goron children Pelison and Axyl play, and stop to rest at night until the next morning. A number of Ore Deposits can be found around the Mine, which can be broken for various Ores. Fireproof Lizards can be found in high numbers here.

A Hylian man named Kima asks Link to collect him 10 Fireproof Lizards, initiating the Fireproof Lizard Roundup Side Quest. Completing the Side Quest will reward Link with a Flamebreaker Armor.
