Cuccos are chickens that has featured in several The Legend of Zelda games. They are well known for attacking Link of he attacks them for an extended period of time, an act sometimes known as the Cucco's Revenge Squad.

Interestingly enough, "cuccos" were an extinct species of birds that were considered a delicacy in ancient Babylon.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

In their first appearance, Cuccoos could be found in Kakariko Village. This game introduced their vengeful "death swarm" behavior.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Cuccoos could be found in a variety of places, and again attacked Link in swarms if struck. As a new feature, Link could grab a Cuccoo and use it to glide slowly when jumping off a cliff. This technique is known as Chicken Gliding.

The game also featured Cojiro, a blue Cuccoo, and a smaller variant known as the Pocket Cuccoo.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Cuccoos appeared the same as in Ocarina of Time. They lived in Termina though.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

The Cuccoos of The Minish Cap were mostly the same as in A Link to the Past, though there were golden Cuccoos that appeared only for a minigame along with small yellow Cuccoo Chicks.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Cuccoos now came in white, brown and such "real world" chicken colors. They no longer summon a Cuccoo swarm when continously attacked, but instead lets the player control the Cuccoo for a few seconds. Rusl also lent Link a shiny golden Cuccoo that let him reach the Sacred Grove.

The Oocca are also very similar to Cuccoos in appearance and name.
