Collecting Golden Bugs is a long, and sometimes strenuous sidequest within Twilight Princess. Collecting them leads to two wallet upgrades, each with a higher maximum rupee capacity. Scattered across the land are 24 golden insects, collectible in any order, which earn Link various sidequest prizes, i.e. the Magic Armor, only acquirable after receiving the Big Wallet, the prize rewarded after collecting and handing over the first bug "pair" to Agitha, the esteemed bug collector in Hyrule Castle Town. After collecting all of the bugs and returning them to Agitha, she shares her "happiness" with Link by giving him the Giant's Wallet, enabling him to carry up to 1000 rupees. Each bug will earn you a purple rupee (50), and each bug pair earns you an additional orange rupee (100).

The collection of golden bugs is a sidequest and is not required for completion of the game. Also be aware that they are attracted to Link's lantern, making them easier to catch.

The various types of Golden Bugs (of which a single male (♂) and female (♀) can be found) are as follows:

  • Ant
  • Mantis
  • Butterfly
  • Phasmid
  • Dayfly
  • Stag Beetle
  • Ladybug
  • Grasshopper
  • Grasshopper
  • Beetle
  • Pill Bug
  • Snail
  • Dragonfly
