Just as Link arrives to the Forest Haven, he discovers another calamity has happened. Makar, one of the Koroks, is trapped inside the Forbidden Woods, a place full of evil flora that was once the Koroks' original homeland. Link needs to rescue him, as the Great Deku Tree pleads him, not only for Makar's well-being but because without him, the Korok Ceremony, a very important Korok holiday, cannot take place. Link accepts and directs himself to the Forbidden Woods. After much toil and trouble, Link finds Makar but to Link's horror, a "plant" swallowed him in one single bite. This large vine-lashing plant-monster, "Kalle Demos" (カーレ・デモス, Kaare Demosu), is the source of all evil inside the Forbidden Woods and Link must defeat it before it digests Makar. Whether it had started out as a regular Boko Baba who mutated into a giant plant, or a Boko Baba corrupted and strengthened by Ganondorf is unknown at this time. Two other possibilities are that it could either be a separate species of Boko Baba, or simply a flowering Boko Baba. This battle is very similar to the first phase of Barinade from Ocarina of Time.

Strategy

When the battle begins, whip out your Boomerang and shoot the vines that attach the Kalle Demos to the ceiling. (The fastest way is to aim for two on one side and three on the other, as this will destroy all the other vines in its path). It may take you many tries to get all of them as they can regenerate and re-attach themselves to the ceiling. Kalle will periodically send out its huge roots. to attack you. Once you've destroyed all the vines, the monster will drop to the ground and expose its weakness: the flower in its center. Attack it quickly, but only for a few seconds as Kalle Demos is going to cover itself again with its giants petals and continue the fight as before. If you don't get out before Kalle closes its petals, it will "eat" you, churn you, and spit you out soaked and covered in glowing pink pollen. Look out, for as you cause more damage to it, Kalle Demos will retaliate more aggressively, sending its vines after you beneath the ground. You can tell where he will strike by noting the dirt that the vines lift up while they wind towards you. Continue attacking until the monster has been defeated and you'll win your prizes: a Heart Container, a regurgitated Makar and Farore's Pearl.
