The Royal Guard's Shield is found in Hyrule Castle, as it is meant to be used by the royal guards of the royal family 100 years before BotW. The shield has the second-highest defense points, which is 70, second only to the almighty Hylian Shield which has 90. Unlike the durable Hylian Shield, the Royal Guard's Shield isn't exactly durable as it can only take 14 hits at most without bonuses. This is said to be a flaw that runs in all of Royal Guard's Series, in which the Sheikah tribe, after its advanced technology has been lost, attempted to make the Royal Shield of more ability to defend strong attacks, but instead, its durability drops low, making it unreliable for enduring combat.
Being made of metal, Royal Guard's Shields will attract Lightning if they're equipped during thunderstorms. However, they won't burn like wood shields do when exposed to Fire or a Scorching Climate. They will also sink if they're dropped in water, but they can be picked up and manipulated with the Magnesis Rune.

Following the second Great Calamity, the Royal Guard's Shields were succeeded by the Ancient Shields developed by Robbie to combat the corrupted Guardians. The Ancient Shield has the same base defense as the Royal Guard's Shield, but  is ancient energy based shield, raising its defense and has enhanced functionality that allows it to automatically defect Guardian lasers without using Perfect Guard and are constructed using Guardian Parts which are forged into Ancient Shields by the Ancient Oven, thus rendering the inferior Royal Guard's Shield obsolete.

Royal Guard's Shields are found in Hyrule Castle, either abandoned or being used by the enemies inside. They were created using the Ancient Technology of the Sheikah for use of the royal guards of Hyrule Kingdom.[1] Though they have an incredibly high defense, a structural weakness led to their low durability, making them impractical for combat.[1]

One Royal Guard's Shield can be found in the King's Secret Study, which is within the library of Hyrule Castle.

If Link wears a Royal Guard's Shield while talking to Selmie, she will be unimpressed to the point of yawning and calls them flimsy pieces of garbage that are worthless to serious shield surfers, due to their poor durability making them unsuitable for Shield Surfing.[2]
