Template:Boss Hot Head is the boss of Turtle Rock in Link's Awakening.

Characteristics

In battle, Hot Head jumps out of the lava briefly to shoot fireballs at Link. In order to vanquish it, Link must hit it with blasts from the Magic Rod. After being struck, Hot Head will lose its flames and start bouncing off the walls before returning to the lava to recompose itself. Hot Head is capable of dealing great damange to Link either by making contact with him or by hitting him with splashes of lava. Once it has sustained enough damage, the boss will crack to reveal a smaller head underneath, although its attack patterns will remain the same. Upon its defeat, Link earns a Heart Container and the Thunder Drum.

Trivia

  • Hot Head bears a lot of similarity to Gouen, a boss in Four Swords. Hot Head's Japanese name translates to "Big Flame," while Gouen's name can be translated as "Master Flame."
  • Hot Head's weakness to fire may be inspired by the phrase "fight fire with fire."
