An Armored Train is an enemy found in Spirit Tracks. They are first seen along the underwater tracks that lead to the Ocean Temple.
Characteristics
Armored Trains consciously follow the Spirit Train, instead of going along a set path. However, they are still restricted to certain areas, allowing Link to evade them if he knows where they can and cannot travel. They have a gray, hockey mask-like armor on the front of them, and their engines produce a purple flame. Armored Trains also have the ability to turn around at any point on the Tracks, and cannot be temporarily stunned. As opposed to normal Dark Trains, they move slower.
They are first encountered after Link opens the gateway to the underwater rails needed to reach the Ocean Temple. Eventually, their occurrence will be spread over the land, with armored trains appearing next to regular Dark Trains in the Snow Realm. The majority of these trains are centered in the first part of the Dark Realm, where the Link must destroy six Armored Trains placed around a map filled with warps, aided by Tears of Light placed throughout the map on the tracks. However, after killing all but one train in the Dark Realm, the last train will come after Link without regard to any path, necessitating good planning to ensure that a Tear of Light is available to destroy it.
