Puffstool is a Minish-sized monster that is quite easy to defeat, although it often lies within the dust that slows Minish Link down. Puffstools normally have red caps, and are near-invincible in this state. When Link uses the Gust Jar on it, it turns gray and with a few sword slashes it should be defeated. Puffstools appear in a variety of places, like dungeons and caves, often hiding in the dust for a surprise attack. When they shake, their spores accumulate as more dust, which can be cleared with the Gust Jar.

Puffstools are recurring Enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][name references needed]

Characteristics

The Minish Cap

Puffstools in The Minish Cap have red caps and are nearly invincible. If Link uses the Gust Jar on them, they turn gray, leaving them open to attacks. Puffstools appear in Deepwood Shrine and some Caves. When they shake, they release spores that slow down Link; these spores can be cleared away with the Gust Jar, and sometimes cover Switches.

Other Appearances

Cadence of Hyrule

Puffstools appear as enemies in Cadence of Hyrule. They behave like the Mushroom enemies from Crypt of the NecroDancer, remaining stationary and releasing spores every fourth beat. There are a total of four varieties of Puffstool, starting with the standard Blue Puffstools, the stronger Purple Puffstools, Black Puffstools, and explosive Red Puffstools, as well as the Green Puffstool introduced in Symphony of the Mask. Each possesses different attack patterns or abilities.
