Salvatore is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[4]

Biography

The Wind Waker

In The Wind Waker, Salvatore runs the Squid-Hunt Minigame inside the lighthouse on Windfall Island, and also the Cannon Minigame on Spectacle Island. To fit in with the pirate-theme of his games, he introduces them with a routine in which he pretends to be Tetra or a fearsome pirate captain, using wooden cutouts which he pokes his face through, and putting on a pirate voice.[2] Aside from when he's using the wooden cut-out pictures, he is very unenthusiastic about the job and always seems bored.[5] At nighttime, he sleeps standing up at his desk, holding up a wooden cutout of himself sleeping.

Salvatore explaining the Cannon Minigame

Salvatore appears again in Phantom Hourglass. He runs the Cannon Minigame on Bannan Island and behaves similarly to his first appearance in The Wind Waker.[6] He explains the Mini-Game with a dramatic wooden puppet show, but otherwise seems bored with his job.[7]

If Link plays the Cannon Minigame at least once, he will receive a Letter from Salvatore after completing the Temple of Wind. In the Letter, Salvatore invites him to return and play the Mini-Game again, whilst lamenting his own boredom.[1]

A guy who runs the minigame where you try to sink groups of giant squid with a set number of shots for prizes. Not only is the game fun, but his little one-man play using the funky little illustrated props leaves quite an impression. If you say you didn't understand his explanation, the expression on his face is priceless. Random

Nomenclature

Salvatore is an Italian name derived from Salvador.[8] This could be a reference to the famous Spanish painter Salvador Dalí, which would match his use of wooden cut-out paintings during the introduction of his games. "Salvatore" is a common name in Italy, and this is probably the reason why his name was changed only in the Italian language. The Italian name Arraffaele comes from the word "arraffare," which means "to seize" or "to steal", and another common Italian name, Raffaele.

    Sincerely yours,
