Overview
Link's Awakening for Nintendo Switch
In Link's Awakening for Nintendo Switch, Hero Mode is available at the beginning of the game and can be selected upon the creation of a new save file. In it, enemies deal double damage and Hearts do not appear. Mini-Bosses will also not yield Fairies upon defeat. The icon of a monster appears on the game file and on the bottom left corner of the screen when playing in Hero Mode.
The Wind Waker HD
In The Wind Waker HD, Hero Mode is available at the beginning of the game and can be selected upon the creation of a new save file. In it, enemies deal double damage and Hearts do not appear.[5] Hero Mode can be activated or deactivated at any point through the file selection screen.
Twilight Princess HD
In Twilight Princess HD, Hero Mode is available at the beginning of the game and can be selected upon the creation of a new save file. In it, enemies deal double damage and Hearts do not appear. Similarly to the Wii version of Twilight Princess, the entire map is flipped horizontally while in Hero Mode.
Skyward Sword
In Skyward Sword, Hero Mode is unlocked after completing the game and can be selected upon the creation of a new save file from the previous one.[6] In it, cutscenes can be skipped, enemies deal double damage, and Hearts and Heart Flowers do not appear unless Link is holding the Heart Medal.[7] The current amount of Treasures and Bugs from the previous game are retained. In addition, actions that consume stamina or air will deplete the Stamina Gauge and Oxygen Gauge faster. Furthermore, all the hints from Sheikah Stones are available from the beginning.[8] The battle against the Demon Horde, the third battle against Ghirahim, and Demise can also be fought in the Thunder Dragon's Lightning Round. Finally, the Skyward Strike keeps its powered-up form and, at the point in the game when it would have been powered up, the charge time gets removed completely.
In Skyward Sword HD, the save slot for Hero Mode can be chosen at will, and the Sheikah Stone is not available due to its removal from the HD version. In addition, the ability to skip cutscenes is no longer exclusive to Hero Mode.
A Link Between Worlds
In A Link Between Worlds, Hero Mode is unlocked after completing the game and can be selected upon the creation of a new save file. In it, enemies deal four times as much damage. Additionally, Ravio's Diary can be found inside the Vacant House, the Milk Bar Musicians can play several more songs, and there is an extra scene in the game's ending after Link returns the Master Sword to its pedestal, where Princess Zelda and the Seven Sages cheer for him. Unlike other games, Hearts appear as normal in Hero Mode.
Other Appearances
Hyrule Warriors
In Hyrule Warriors, Hero Mode appears as a Difficulty setting for Scenarios in Legend Mode. It is unlocked after completing the original Scenarios in any other Difficulty. In higher Difficulty levels, enemies deal more damage and have increased defenses. Bonuses are also given by clearing Legend Mode Scenarios in a higher Difficulty, such as an increase in Rupees gained. The Hard Mode Gold Skulltulas, also unlocked after completing the original Scenarios, can only be found by playing through the Scenarios in either Hard or Hero Mode difficulty in addition to fulfilling their other requirements.
