The Giant Buzz Blob is a massive Buzz Blob that is the first Sub-Boss in the Color Dungeon. Upon its room being entered, Giant Buzz Blob will gloat that it is not a weakling and that Link's Sword is no match for it.[citation needed] When Link makes contact with it or strikes it with his Sword, he will be Electrocuted. It is invulnerable to damage from Bombs, the Bow, the Magic Rod or the Sword. The Giant Buzz Blob can be made vulnerable and transformed into a Zol-like weakened form that can be damaged.

In its Buzz Blob form, Giant Buzz Blob will shoot lightning bolts which the young hero must avoid. When struck in its Buzz Blob state, it taunts Link and tells him to try using another Item.[2] Its weakened form attempts to leap at Link.

In Link's Awakening for Nintendo Switch, the Giant Buzz Blob is redesigned to be colored green in its Buzz Blob state, although it is still colored blue in its weakened state.
