"Freeing Korok Forest" is the first Scenario of Chapter 3 and eighth overall in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.[1]

Overview

Divine Beast Vah Medoh appears overhead as the Divine Beast Pilot, Link, and Zelda stand on a high elevation overlooking the Great Hyrule Forest, where Revali will comment on why Link is present without any clear purpose. After a short discussion with the others, Revali steps forward and offers to clear the monsters guarding the forest with his Divine Beast.

After destroying all the Outposts surrounding the Great Hyrule Forest, Revali and the other pilots, alongside Link, Impa, and Zelda, traverse on foot through into the forest. Unbeknownst to them, a cloaked figure commands two Yiga Footsoldiers to hunt down the group.

The group was getting lost, seeing no viable method to navigate through the fog, until they encounter Hestu, a large Korok who requires help getting back to Korok Forest. Seeing this as an opportunity, Urbosa offers for the group to protect Hestu in exchange for help to navigate through the forest.

Hestu guides the group through the Great Hyrule Forest by opening various Hidden Passages leading to Korok Forest. After fighting off various Stalkoblins and a Stalnox, they then find out that there is Malice blocking their path.

Splitting up, each member of the group then encounters Hollows resembling the four Divine Beast Pilot. If a Divine Beast Pilot encounters a Hollow resembling themselves, they will insult the Hollow before fighting them. Upon defeating each of the Hollows, a portion of the Malice will disappear, eventually clearing up to allow Link and Zelda to enter the Korok Forest while Hestu and the Divine Beast Pilot fight off monsters in the surrounding area.

Link and Zelda find the Master Sword, but they also encounter a an unnamed figure using an unknown device to wield Malice. The unnamed figure summons the same Hollows from earlier to all attack, prompting Link to charge in. Despite maintaining a defensive position, the Hollow resembling Mipha clashes its trident against Link's Soldier's Broadsword while Link raises his shield to defend against arrows fired from the Hollow resembling Revali. Link's sword shatters while he attempts to block an attack from the Hollow resembling Daruk, only to be knocked backwards towards the Master Sword and leaving Zelda.

Seeking the opportunity, the unnamed figure orders the Hollows to kill her. However, the Hollows were stopped before they were able to reach Zelda, disintegrating from a glow that emanated from the Master Sword, with Link's hand near the hilt. Turning around, Link takes hold of the Master Sword and begins pulling it from its pedestal. The unnamed figure turns around to face Link in surprise and denial. Shortly after, Link removes the Master Sword and raises it into the air, as a blue glow emanated. Immediately, he turns around to face the unnamed figure, with his new sword raised.

The unnamed figure retreats and orders the Hollows to attack. Due to the power of the Link was able to overpower all four Hollows as the figure reappears near the pedestal of the Master Sword, revealing himself to be called Astor. The battle continues as Astor and Link fight, eventually causing Astor to resummon the Hollows while he protects himself. Shortly after defeating the Hollows again, Astor attempts to fight Link himself. Eventually, the battle ends with Astor retreating from battle, stating that the Master Sword was too powerful.

Link regroups with Zelda and the Divine Beast Pilot arrive. Behind the Master Sword pedestal, the Great Deku Tree awakens form his slumber, stating that the Master Sword has chosen its user and encouraging Zelda to continue pursuing her purpose of unlocking her powers. He reassures her by stating that she has all that is needed to defeat the Calamity, gazing towards Link and the Divine Beast Pilot.
