Wind Crests are strange monuments found in The Minish Cap. They are revealed by touching a small gravestone-like statue, revealing a pad of dirt with a musical note on it. They were made by the Wind Tribe for using the Ocarina of Wind, which would allow them to move to any Wind Crest that has been activated.
The 8 Wind crests, the Ocarina, and Zeffa construct the Warp system for this game, and are not of use to Link until the Ocarina of Wind is obtained from the Fortress of Winds, located at the end of the Wind Ruins. Unlike several of the necessary sidequests in The Minish Cap, unveiling and using the Wind Crests is not required for completion of the game, yet they cut travel time between distant areas on the map by a huge margin.
