The Wii U was announced at E3 2011.

Developer Shigeru Miyamoto announced that he would like to make a Zelda HD game for the Wii U.[2]

At E3 2011, there was a demo for the console, which featured a Zelda-themed game. Its appearance was similar to Twilight Princess. On the television screen, a boss battle took place, while on the controller, there was an item screen.
