What is Zeldapedia?

ummm what is zeldapedia and is this wiki better than it? im new and kinda want to know whitch one is better? User:The-Gman!

Zeldapedia is a wiki hosted by Wikia. You can find more information here, including a link to the site so you can check it out for yourself. With regard to which is "better", that's a very subjective question and not one that I can give you an answer to. My personal opinion would naturally be in favour of Zelda Wiki.org (that's why I'm here after all!), but you'll need to make your own mind up on which you prefer. My recommendation would be that you create an account there also, edit a little at both sites and get an idea of which feels best to you. User:Adam/sig 11:47, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Ordon Village Work Deleted!?

Hey, I was looking through Recent Changes and I saw you deleted all my work on those pages. I'm a little upset of this because I put a lot of time into that, and I was wondering why you did that. Could you please reply? (Preferably on this page). ShellShockeR (Talk) 05:58, 4 July 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

With the recent removal of OV as a Mastermind site, it doesn't seem appropriate for the site to have a dedicated category here any more. That has historically only been available to Mastermind sites, hence why I removed the category for HTLOZ also. The rank template and its subpages are a slightly different matter, however I believe that the same principle of it being a "Mastermind-only" feature applies (see the current Rank templates here).
I had already sought the other staff's opinions on the removal of the category, the response to which was unanimously in favour of removal. I've let everyone on staff know exactly what I've removed and why, in case there is some legitimate argument for any of it to remain. I recongise and appreciate that you've put a lot of effort into creating those pages, so I can understand why you're upset. But I hope you'll understand why, based on the current status of OV, it wasn't appropriate for it to remain. Also, should a policy allowing external sites this privilege be approved by the staff, any pages deemed appropriate can be restored to their previous state. User:Adam/sig 06:11, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
Ah, I see. Well, I guess the makes sense then. Plus, like you said, you've told the other staffers here, and it makes sense to me now. Sorry for being a little bit angry there, I was just a little upset because I put some time in them. I'm fine now though. Though, since OV is somewhat down as of today, I'm not sure when it is coming back online, since Alexander has left, though he says he was still paying. Anyway, thanks for explaining this all to me in a nice manner, it's appreciated that you also replied fast. Again, thanks for telling me. I just have some questions: If Ordon Village is brought back as a Mastermind, could I bring those pages back, and my second question: After a page has been deleted, can you bring it back as it was before it was deleted (in case OV comes back online and a mastermind)? Hope you can reply. :) ShellShockeR (Talk) 06:23, 4 July 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Restoring deleted pages is actually very simple, but can only be performed by admins. Basically, any admin can view a deleted page's revisions in much the same way as an active page's history. They are also able to restore revisions or the entire page, so yes it is possible and very easy to restore deleted content. In fact, the term "deleted" is a little misleading, since it's not actually possible to deleted anything (pages, images, user accounts...) from the wiki's database. Information is simply made unavailable through the wiki interface, but remains stored on the server. Does that make sense? So yeah, if OV were to return as a Mastermind in future those Rank pages could and would be restored. Oh, and no worries about getting worked up, it's completely understandable and it's not like you were rude about it :)
Also, from what I've heard of OV's current status, it would seem that it's in the process of being transferred to new hosting under Swiftblade's management (control having been handed over to him by Alexander). I'd expect to see the site back up fairly soon, but I couldn't say when. I guess Swiftblade would be able to provide more detail on that, his email address is on his userpage. User:Adam/sig 08:14, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey, Adam. Sorry to put this in such a strange place, but I have no means of reaching any admin off-site. Could you check my talk page's revision history and find the last couple of edits done by Wowzeras? I'm fed up with the constant abuse I'm taking from him on here, and I want him to know that off-wiki problems STAY off-wiki. PLEASE do something! Again, sorry it's so randomly placed and small, but anytime I talk about something that he even thinks is related to him, he intrudes on the conversation.Justin(Talk) 02:32, 29 October 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I think Ax said all there is to say here. Plus, if you ever need an online admin, I'm not the best choice what with timezone differences. Best bet in future would be to check the Online Users panel on the Recent Changes. User:Adam/sig 12:32, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Tingle's Love Balloon Trip

Hello, why did you put a merge tag at each of the three articles on characters from Tingle's Love Balloon Trip? Okay, they are just stubs now, but I have seen even shorter stubs (example). Or because the game is not released yet? It's less than two weeks ahead, though. --Grandy02 16:09, 26 July 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi, I added my reasoning here. I'd appreciate any input you may have on it. User:Adam/sig 16:44, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Thought You Might Know

How do you put pictures on your page? Like the Zelda Wii art. That stuff. Mantandzelink 16:31, 2 August 2009 (UTC)MantandzelinkReply[reply]

I'm assuming you want to add them to your user page? Anyway, the procedure is the same for all pages. To add individual images, follow this (step 3 only, if you're using images already available at the wiki). Otherwise to add a gallery of multiple files, use the following code:

<gallery>
File:image1.jpg
File:image2.png
</gallery>

Let me know if you're still having problems User:Adam/sig 17:34, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Wanted to check with you first

The history in the Eyeball Monster page says you redirected it to EyePlant. Is this another issue with the Prima Guide having a different name than the official Nintendo one? I know it made mistakes with at least a few entries. Heroofstuff brought it up and I checked my guide; saw the same thing. User:Axiomist/sig 04:01, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Nope, I have no information whatsoever on the name. Basically, Eye Plant was first to be created, then Eyeball Monster was created at the start of this year. It was a stub duplicating the info in Eye Plant, so in the absence of any official source for the name back then I simply redirected the new stub to the already established and more generically-named page. Do with it as you will :) User:Adam/sig 05:58, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Shutting Down my account

Hello Seeing as I dont come on here anymore I was wondering if it would be possible to deactivate my account (forever)

All the best --Zanramon 12:40, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I can disable your account, as long you're certain you don't want to use it again (it's not reversible once done). Did you want me to do that for you? User:Adam/sig 12:59, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Yea. If it would't be a problem.

See Ya --Zanramon 17:50, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

OK, I've disabled you account as requested. Bye. User:Adam/sig 18:35, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Hey Adam

Hey. How's it going? I was wondering if you have the frames for this image. If so, it'd be great if you'd let me use them. Thanks. Alter  {T C B H } 17:42, 24 September 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi there. Sorry, I didn't make that image, I got it as-is so I don't have the constituent frames. Surely a GIF editor can extract them though? User:Adam/sig 19:59, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
OK, thanks. Yeah, I'm sure that there's some programs, but I really don't want to learn how to use them. :P Anyway, I was able to just take snapshots of each frame, and replace them. Thanks. Alter  {T C B H } 22:15, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Alltime greatest video game hero comp at gamespot

Gamespot is running a poll for the greatest video game hero, the comp was set as a knockout tourney but users vote for their fave char, link is in the semis along with mario, samus and gordon freeman. mario is going head to head with samus and link is against freeman. at the current rate link will lose so i am asking if you could rally some of your members to vote for link. http://uk.gamespot.com/greatest-video-game-hero/vote/index.html?battle_id=61 btw, gordon freeman is the half life guy also, please notify as many other zelda sites as well just to help

Meh

Alright, so I'm not really going to edit this Wiki alot, so don't assume I'll spam it up. I don't like your hypocrisy, I don't know if you did it or somebody else. But do not say you own an image that is licensed under a video game. So don't blame us for copying something we didn't copy. --Zeldapedian Supporter 03:39, 24 October 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

if you are wanting to know about zeldapedia then this is the jist of it. Both are about equal but on one site maybe a couple articles are better and on another a couple aticles are better. but ither then that their basically the same but they fight over who is better. I am new to here too but i have used zeldapedia since the beginning of last summer.--Ironknuckle1 04:43, 24 October 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Nay, Ironknuckle, I am not wanting to know about Zeldapedia hence my name. I support it, and am staying anonymous here. --Zeldapedian Supporter 06:44, 24 October 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Arrow images

Adam, it was a very long time ago, but I don't suppose you've still got the source images for File:Arrow30_OoTMM.jpg and File:Arrow50_OoTMM.jpg squirrelled away, do you? I'm trying to make them properly transparent, but I'm not really getting results that I'm happy with. The background was clearly white in the original - I don't suppose you still have those versions, do you? User:Petenu/sig 16:55, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, the original images for those went in my Recycle Bin a long time ago, and I don't remember where they were from :( However, I remember my method and I'm fairly certain I was careful to remove only the background area, so all the pixels of the image itself should be intact. If I were you, I'd overlay it on a white background layer first, then merge them into one layer before trying to redo the transparency. That way, you'll basically be working with the original image I had two years ago ;) User:Adam/sig 18:45, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I've tried that but to no avail. I think it's the JPEG compression to blame. If you fancy having a crack at it at some point, please do. User:Petenu/sig 19:15, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Crap

As you may have seen on the recent changes, my so called "friend," Preston, used my computer to vandalize my userpage. I don't trust him, so could you block my account for about 30 minutes? I want to make sure he doesn't do it again somehow. I leave all of my stuff logged in to here, so I want to be blocked until he leaves in about 30 minutes.Justin(Talk) 20:20, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Wouldn't it be better to just change your password? That way he can't access your account anymore. Regardless, I'll keep an eye out for any more "unusual activity" and block if required. User:Adam/sig 20:34, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Nevermind, I missed the fact that Jason already did the block :P Anyway, I'd definitely recommend a change of password, and more dilligence on your part... User:Adam/sig 20:37, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Password=changed. I'm definately going to be more careful.Justin(Talk) 04:13, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Image Licensing

Hi Adam, why was the ImageSelf template not appropriate for those screenshots that I uploaded? User:Petenu/sig 13:49, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi there, sorry for not letting you know straight after I changed the tags, but I had limited time earlier. Basically, the ImageSelf tag only applies to stuff you actually created yourself, like a photograph you took of something, or a picture you drew etc. Anything showing game screenshots, content or official artwork is copyright to Nintendo and nothing else. Of course the effort and time you put into getting these images is greatly appreciated, but we can't give individuals credit for or ownership of images created by Nintendo. I'm hoping to overhaul all the template wording to make it all clearer soon. User:Adam/sig 19:25, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, the wording definitely needs looking at in that case. "I, as the contributor of this image, certify that I scanned/captured/photographed/drew/photo-edited this image myself, and that it was not obtained in its current form from another website. Where an image depicts an object or symbol from The Legend of Zelda series, I recognize that the copyright holder is most likely Nintendo" seems to describe my screenshots perfectly. So is ImageSelf basically for fan artwork then? Seems like there's going to be a loooooooot of images need taking out of this category! User:Petenu/sig 19:29, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
If I may butt in... (seeing as Adam has an odd timezone) The Image Licensing section/system was recently overhauled due to abuse. It used to be set up so that if you greatly edited an image, it was placed under that template. However, that is no longer the case. To answer your question, no. For fan art, etc., the {{fan art}} template is used. I'm actually not sure why the other template was kept, but it needs to be reworded anyway. Alter  {T C B H } 21:01, November 13, 2009 (UTC)

Template Deletions

Hey, Adam, when you suggest a template's deletion, make sure you're putting the {{Delete}} within the <noinclude></noinclude> section. Otherwise, all the pages with that template on them are going to get a big fat deletion template slapped on them, as well as a categorization in the "articles for deletion" pages. Be more careful next time! You're supposed to be an admin who knows this stuff :P (I still respect youuuuuu)Justin(Talk) 17:40, 26 November 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm well aware of that thanks. But neither of the templates I flagged for deletion were in use anywhere, so doing it without <noinclude> had the secondary effect of discouraging their possible use on pages. Rest assured that I fully consider the implications of everything I do ;)-Adam17:58, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay, then. And you put nowiki instead of noinclude XD
It didn't sign your post, so I ghetto signed it for you XDJustin(Talk) 17:58, 26 November 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Userbox

The fact of the matter is that they have admitted to taking my images (over 20 of them), and a large percent of the community knows that. A while back, it was agreed that people could do pretty much anything they wanted with their userpages. Why not with something such as this? It appears that I'm the excuse.

I would think that it in no way announces that the staff supports it. After all, I'm simply a rouge member who is enraged by that. I must add I'm surprised of that, as I've had many people comment about it, and just now it's being noticed. Don't think I'm upset, or anything, but it seems as though the same type of scenario is being used differently because it's involving Zeldapedia. If something's not highly belligerent, and is truthful/mostly unoffensive, I think it should be given passage.

Would it be OK if I changed certain aspects of it, such as rival wikis, and the link? The only people it effects are those who understand the situation already. Alter  {T C B H } 18:27, November 27, 2009 (UTC)

It may seem that I've only just noticed it, but I actually mentioned it among the staff two weeks ago, and two bureaucrats agreed with me that it should be removed. I then promptly forgot to do it ;) Anyway, generally userboxes make positive statements, not negative ones like that. If you really feel the need to have it on your userpage, you could reword it to something far more general, like "this user doesn't like it when people take things without asking". Just bear this in mind, OK? User:Adam/sig 19:14, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Alright. However, I don't think it was over the line. Perhaps it's not the best when it comes to interaction, but it's a true statement. Would you mind restoring it, and just delete the text? I'll work on it later. As I said before, it only means anything to those involved. And for the record, I'm still ticked about those thefts, and am unhappy that nothing was ever done to prevent that in the future. Alter  {T C B H } 03:22, November 28, 2009 (UTC)
Is that better? :) Alter  {T C B H } 03:30, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, dude. We haven't seen you for weeks. :/ User:Mandi/sig 04:48, January 2, 2010 (UTC)
Pah, sorry to disappoint, but the rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated ;) Although I suppose a 10 day absence might as well be forever in our crazy world of wiki ;p
P.S. Happy 2010 to all who read this! User:Adam/sig 08:54, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
He lives! Glad to have you back, man. Alter  {T C B H } 09:01, January 2, 2010 (UTC)
Quite the opposite of disappointment! We worried about you dude. User:Axiomist/sig 09:03, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes, quite worried >:( But, glad you haven't...y'know...kicked the bucket.User:Mandi/sig 22:18, January 2, 2010 (UTC)

Is it okay to ask for game pointers or would that be off-topic? ZoraKnight 15:12, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

WiKirby

Seeing how Axi is away for awhile, I'll have to direct this to you. It seems that Austin's encountering the same problem that Brent had with WiKirby: It refuses to allow him connect. I believe it's the same thing where it can't process his request as before, so I would suggest raising another support ticket with bluehost about it. Talk to Austin for more specific details about the problem, though. Hopefully, this won't become a recurring thing :/Justin(Talk) 20:04, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Question about Monaco.css

Hey, I was wondering if you'd be able to tell me how to edit the Monaco.css so that when someone edits a page, it makes a <strike> like how it's done here. Is this something I'd be able to do or is that something Wikia is in control of? Jo the Marten(Shriek) ಠ_ಠ 16:14, 3 April 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Um, I'm not quite sure I understand what you're asking about; did you mean the "Currently editing" bar that shows up when you edit a page? User:Adam/sig 08:20, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
No, like here and how the deleted words are crossed out. Jo the Marten(Shriek) ಠ_ಠ 01:17, 6 April 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ah, now I see what you mean. That's done using a file called diff.css (ZW's copy is found here). It's not editable via the wiki's interface (and of course viewing the file in a browser is read-only), so to customise ours I had to manually edit the file on our server. I'm guessing that only Wikia staff will have that level of access, and I'm not sure what their policy on interface customisation is, so you might have a hard time getting them to change it. I guess that's just one of the many benefits that comes with independance... User:Adam/sig 12:37, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Aye. :/ This is rather unfortunate. I had a member come up to me saying he was color blind and couldn't see the edits. Guess I'll have to bring it up with Wikia then. Thanks for your help! Jo the Marten(Shriek) ಠ_ಠ 22:07, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Talk Page

In my experience, talk pages belong to the users, not the administrators. In past, they have been allowed to remove garbage they don't want on their pages, just as Mandi has in the past as well. She edits and locks her page simply so she doesn't have to converse with certain people, and I'm sure there's been others. My talk page is my talk page, and I have every right to de-garbage it if I wish. And by the way, your "final warning" means nothing to me until you issue the same ruling to Nerushi. You all wanted to block me alongside that clown AuronKaizer before simply for defending all of you from him (which I was stabbed in the back for), yet you just want to slap Nerushi on the wrist and show bias toward me. So until your rulings become impartial and equivalent, your "final warning" isn't worth the energy you took to type it to me. Link87 20:14, 26 April 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Nice one by the way, you lock MY page when I didn't even remove your pointless comments. Tut Tut. I demand that it be unlocked now however, thank you very much. If not, I shall be writing to Jason about this overstepping of bounds and abuse of power. Link87 20:17, 26 April 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Forgot to say "thanks"

I saw the addition of the skipcaptcha to the patrol and autopatrol groups. I much appreciate that, because it was getting really annoying :PUser:Justin/sig 19:32, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Editing my user page

I know that I had used userbox templates that didn't exist. I was planning on creating them sometime when I'm feeling a little less lazy, lol. I just wanted to put them there so I would remember to make them, and I'd only have to click on the links to start editing them. You didn't have to delete them from my page.
