Thrill Digger is a Mini-Game found in Skyward Sword.[1] It is a Minesweeper-like game run by Tubert, a Mogma found on Eldin Volcano.

Rules

Link must dig for Rupees in the dirt and avoid Rupoors and Bombs. There are three difficulty levels: Beginner, which gives Link a 5x4 grid to dig in, there will be four Bombs and mostly green and blue Rupees. The next level is Intermediate and consists of a 6x5 grid. There are the same amount of Bombs as the Beginner difficulty (as well as four Rupoors), but it is made up of mostly blue and red Rupees and costs 50 Rupees rather than 30. The expert difficulty has a 8x5 grid to dig in and there are eight bombs and Rupoors and mostly red Rupees. It also costs 70 Rupees. For any level, the higher the Rupee amount, the more bombs there are near it. Link can make more, less, or the same amount of which he paid, so this game can be a gamble. It is similar to the Money Making Game from the original The Legend of Zelda. Tubert explains most of the rules, but another Mogma behind the game area will give Link tips for Rupees. One of the features of this game is that once Link digs up a bomb and the game ends, Link will take one heart of damage, as well as revealing the items in each pile of dirt. If he tries to play the game with one heart left, Tubert will suggest that he rest on the stool next to him.[2] Also, there is a hidden time limit while playing. Tubert warns the player when their time is almost up, and when the time is up, the game ends.

Trivia

  • The Japanese name for the game, ドキドキルピー掘り, is a reference to the Heart-Pounding Gravedigging Tour in Ocarina of Time which is named ドキドキ穴ほりツアー in Japanese.
  • There is a certain dig spot near the entrance of the mini-game that, if Link has the Mogma Mitts, allows him to burrow beneath the playing field and collect the Rupees buried underneath while also seeing the placement of various Bombs.
