"The Thunder Helm" is a Side Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Overview

After Link regains control of the Divine Beast Vah Naboris from Calamity Ganon, the legendary Thunder Helm can be found resting on a small pedestal beside Riju's Throne in the Royal Palace of Gerudo Town. When Link interacts with the Thunder Helm, Buliara will stop him from touching it.[2] However, Riju interjects and asks Link if he wants the Helm.[3] While she is unable to gift the Thunder Helm to Link,[4] but since he is fighting the enemy of Urbosa, Riju offers to lend it to him.[5]

If Link agrees to only take the Thunder Helm temporarily, Riju says that he must gain the trust of the Gerudo in order to earn it.[6] She tasks him with solving the problems of the citizens of Gerudo Town.[7] thus beginning the quest. The Side Quest begins at this point. While Link is powerful, Riju reminds him he will not be able to solve the people's problems with only his power.[8]

In order to satisfy Riju's terms, Link complete the following Side Quests:[note 1]

After all four Side Quests are done, Link can return to the Royal Palace, where Riju shares that she has heard of his good deeds.[9] She offers her thanks on behalf of the Gerudo and declares him a true friend.[10] Keeping her promise from before, Riju lends Link the Thunder Helm.[11] She assures Link that he will be able to use the Thunder Helm to its fullest potential and unlock the power of Urbosa that lies within.[12] This completes the Side Quest.
